Yes, thurisaz. I, too, eventually found the buttons (which was NOT intuitive imho), but could not manage to work with them (could not read enough of the text), so I switched back to the old interface to chat with the mission. Could the mission text remain the same size as it was before and then simply have a numbered button before each item?
No wonder I didn't see them!
Thanks, thurizas. I move that your current mission is selected by default whenever you go to the mission logs screen, so you don't have to go click on it. And note that the buttons truncate the text in them, too.

agreed, jex, though I haven't had a problem, really... the latest mission is usually first in the list, except that crazy "not worth the time" mission from the test server screwed things up.. just look for the one that hasn't been "(Completed)"
..and I agree that the buttons shouldn't be allowed to stretch off the screen without a scrollbar.. ugh

Yeah, I discovered that button length problem too late in the process. That's one reason why the new interface is still optional.
The wording will need to be changed so not so much text is in the buttons.
The mission log tab will be auto-selected if it needs your input (when you enter the station or open the pda) and the tabs will flash or change color when you're already in the station/pda to get your attention when it needs your input.
The available mission list is not in its permanent location, either. Evenually, it may be moved into the Mission tab of the PDA.

Found some things that are odd.

When the station tab is open, it overlaps with the stuff in the lower right corner.

The tutorial is giving me two sets of buttons.
Also, the lower tabs are not very prominent, it took me awhile to figure out they are tabs.

The first one is because of font scaling...
*yes*, ray.. I LOVE the idea of putting the list of available missions in the PDA... even better, change the list depending on where the player is, and what NPCs are around:
-- docked with a station or inside a station sector: same as now
-- in the same sector as a friendly NPC convoy: offer a modified version of that convoy's mission, ie just "defend us on our way to our destination"
-- in the same sector as NPC pirates: offer a "kill the pirates" mission, on behalf of the nearest anti-pirate faction, ie Xang Xi in Sedina, Tunguska in Odia, etc

"1. No station chat button. Some of us actually use station chat; if something else is planned instead for this or any other chat, please do tell. "
Um, yeah. Extremely STUPID move without advance notice, IMO... I haven't checked the update yet, but if that is going to be a permanent change, it would be enough to make me question the judgement of the dev in charge of that change. Station chat is used by many people, especially roleplayers. Is VO a roleplaying game or NOT?

I think you can switch back to the old interface to use the bar chat.
I know you can switch back to the old interface to use bar chat.
However, that's a temporary solution until the test interface is fully released, at which point bar chat will be gone forever UNLESS someone fixes that problem and puts it back into the chat interface. THAT is what I was getting at.

Bar chat is not going away, but it is being redone. It might be missing for a little while, but it'll be back soon enough.
I intend to move bar chat to a station-specific area, where it actually has a local name specific to the station and has some actual gameplay and roleplaying impact. Miharu, I know you use it for roleplaying stuff, but by and large.. hardly anyone does right now. I want to re-architect it to become more like an actual interesting feature, rather than a redundant and little-used extra chat channel.
So anyway, it won't be part of the normal chat system anymore, it's going to get its own special interface in one of the sub-tabs.
