Amount of non-scoring players

rogue, i am not talking about a single individual, if people want to role play on more then 1 character when this game is being bought, they will say "Oh look, looks like a great game, to bad i only get 1 character slot, screw it."

I understand for same nation, but not 1 character slot.

1 character slot is like 1 half of a bagel sandwhich. (top bottem, not left right)

I use up 3 slots, why? if i told you i would have to kill you.

There's a total of 7698 registered players (Nation Populations added), but if you look at player rankings only the first 1250 have even scored a point.

This makes a cool 6448 characters that are unused.
Thats 83.7% of characters doing nothing.
Every active person registered has an average of 6.15 characters.

Methinks these numbers are too high and we need another cull. Players should have a maximum of 3 characters limited to one nation only. If you want to swap sides then you have to delete all characters and start again.
I bet the blue population drops like a stone.

Gah, um, I am definately against this.

And how do you come up with that average? Also, I have a trading char that doesn't have a point, but it has still been used.

Also you would put an end to nations helping another when faced with a pirate(for example, I have switched to my gold pilot to deal with red pirates I couldn't get to stop by just talking).

But seriously, as every person should only have 1 account as it is, each person should have 6 characters or less. Also some of those 0 score, are holding names.

I'll write more when I think it up.

Don't worry...if an account is inactive for more than 30 days it will dissapear. So give it a few more weeks before that population drops significantly.

I think it's a good idea. While you're at it, shuffle things around and put 50% of the Neutrals on Serco.

Renegade, downloading update right now, i'll hop on one of em.

Ok, deleting the 2 lines in wgaf to stop vendetta from crasheing!

Done!

Listen, some organizations have seperate characters for doing there dirty work, it will keep the grease off of there main character's hands.

Characters aren't ever automatically deleted. Users are deleted if they have never played and signed up over a month ago, or if they haven't played at all in six months. Of course if a user is deleted so are his characters. But there are 1039 accounts that meet the above requirements right now -- they're not automatically purged. I have to run a script to do it.

Since our signup limit isn't nearly full, I'm not going to do it yet. Anyway, I don't see the harm in having inactive characters. Maybe you want to reserve permutations of your name.

YES!! Single character accounts.

NO to multiple characters.
May 08, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
Oh and, the characters < and > should not be allowed in names, someone can just use <Suicidal Lemming> and just use the me command, or they could do <Suicidal and use the /me command like this "/me Lemming> Hello!"

Arolte, you got it flip flopped

Arolte, this is a RPG, if someone wants to roleplay as a different character, that is not bad!
May 08, 2003 Roger Ramjet link
Dragos:

7698 (total characters) didvided by 1250 (characters in use) = 6.15
May 08, 2003 Arolte link
No, it is bad. For once I'd like to see players that are actually loyal to their nation. Now hush.
May 08, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
Suicidal lemming sprays "Anti-Hush" into the air.

Arolte, name two succesful MMORPG that restricts you to one character...
May 08, 2003 Arolte link
Oh, so what you're suggesting is that multiple characters determine the success rate of MMORPG games? Yeah that makes sense.

/me rolls his eyes.
May 08, 2003 roguelazer link
I side with Arolte here. If you are to build any sort of character (as in personality) in your character (as in player), you need allegiance to your nation alone. How can you be trusted as a top advisor in your nation if you are part of two? Suicidal Lemming, name one nation in the real world where the leader is allowed to also be the leader of another nation, in which the two are at war with one another.

played a mud rpg once in which there were "cabals" or clans I guess you could say. In this mud you were permitted to have as many characters as you wanted but you were not allowed to have one character in one cabal and another character in a different one. Just bad common sense
May 08, 2003 roguelazer link
So basically you could have as many characters as you want as long as they were all of the same team? Makes sense...
May 08, 2003 hydrocarbon link
I suspect that in the real game, there will be far fewer multi-charecters, because it will take time to develop them.
