any way back on topic "Ahhhh, sweet. Frigate versus frigate battles. I can just see it now -- frigates firing avalons at each other, just barely dodging each others shots. It would definitely have a more practical use than fighters or bombers launching avalons at each other." - Arolte...
yeah. this is somthing i am looking foward to also, but these battles will probably have a good amount of fighter ships involved also (Valks Prommies) trying to bomb the other frig and take out its fighters. Really massive wars to look forward to when Frigs are player controlled.
OH yeah a question for DEVs, uh since Frigs are going to cost so much, will there be away for multiple users to buy one Frig? and share controll over it? Because if thats the case we dont want any users being dumb and destroying a shared toy while your not online, that being said will both(or more) users have to be online to use the frigs?

How about a bunch of cargo space meaning 100+
It would help justify a higher price

Oh and, releases prior to E3 (may 12th), includes a bot frigate, today is may 10th!

Ive started the countdown till the Frig. in a new ... thing... yeah. im gonna get some sleep.
Lets see, right now is what? almost 9; 9-1=8; 24-8=16
Just 16 more hours to go! I'll laugh if they release it tommorow!

You guys are thinking that the Frigate will be the biggest ship thats going to be in the game. In my opinion there will be MUCH bigger ships than the Frigate. I agree that the frigate should be slow, but not as slow as some of you want it to be. In my opinion, the frigate would be an escort of a much bigger ship, such as a Cruiser, BattleCruiser, Dreadnaught, or a Doomstar. So it needs to still be manueverable, but not too manueverable. Some where around 3-4 steps below the lowest manueverability now. Max turbo speed of 80-130. Have a hull of 500,000-750,000. Max speed of around 35m/s (without turbo). It should have 6-10 turret slots, 10 missle slots, 15 laser slots. and 2 L mine launchers. And about 5-10 Docking bays. For the power supply, It should have 6 battery slots. 6 rear engine slots, (To accelerate it.) and 4 Foward Engine Slots (To slow it down.) Or have Engines that swivel back and forth, say you want to go foward, the engines face the rear and fire in that direction, say you want to slow down or go backwards, the engines swivel the other direction and fire that way. Finally, it should have 50 cargo space.
Phoenix, no way in bloody hell should it have only 50 cargo.
Oh and 11-1=10; 24-10= 14
14 more hours!

What Could be possible, is trade weapon space for cargo space, so you could turn a frigate into a VERY VERY big trade ship, but you would need escorts, lots of escorts. Or trade in cargo space for weapon space and have a massive fighting ship. Or maybe trade a little of both for slightly higher manueverability.
didnt they say the frig is going to be the biggest ship in the Test? i think i just made that up... shoot me ded.
did you guys stiop to think that... /me shuts up before he speaks something very, very bad.
Yes. tradeing in weapon slots would be great!
19-1=18
24-18=6

I have no problem with trading weapon space for cargo space. The reverse causes big problems IMO. I think it would lead to a situation where everyone was trading out cargo for S/L weapon slots and filling the hold full of rockets. I can just see everyone launching volleys of 7-8 rockets at a time. And while having masses for the gizmos would help (which is probably in our future anyway), I don't think it would completely fix the problem and would generally complicate design and balance isues.
Besides, there are real world considerations other than weight that limit how many weapons you can carry. You can't necessarily mount a weapon deep in the ship's hold in a usable fashion. It is much easier for me to imagine pulling out weapons systems and using the space freed up thereby.

Celebrim, What would happen would be, some of the space would be lost for good, you would have to buy a new ship to get back (kinda like EV) Trade 15 cargo space for 10 weapon space, or trade 15 weapon space for 10 cargo space. You wouldn't be storing a weapon in the hold of the ship, buying an "outfit" to transfer weapon to cargo or cargo to weapon would change that part of the ship, so instead of having a cargo hold, the cargo hold would dissapear, and you would add on a weapon.
It would be cool if a point defense laser system could be mounted on the small or large weapon slot - a gatling like gun that does little hull damage but can take down rockets and missles.
