How about making them squaredance? I mean, if nobody's around, they could line up and start dosie-do'ing through space. Either that, or have them do airshow stuff, formation flying, etc.
OH man.. this is gonna so ROCK!!! I'm looking FORWARD to seeing the new bots!!!!
A1k0n, why did you name a bot EULA?
That sounds like a Microsoft enforcement bot of some sort. :P

Yeah, Eula's kind of...well... short. How about [NPC] Icarus?
Well, since the devs are working on a frigate... How about you have the bots patrol between the warpholes carrying cargo or whatnot, then form up and escort a frigate that just kinda moves through the sectors. Then players can come and kill all the bots to get at the frigate and harvest it's cargo. :)
We need to enforce our end-user license agreement _somehow_. Ray's actually been messing frigates with turrets along the side. That'll be in one of the upcoming hidden sectors. Sector 15, by the way, was supposed to have a bunch of mean bots, but I was too tired/lazy to put them in on Monday night.
So will EULA send me the EULA if I ask it?
"19 ray_red Red 79350 79 0 4 19.75 1004.43 0/0"
I'd kinda already guessed that regarding ray. Wanna give us a real scoop. ;)

a1k0n, I just had an idea...when Vendetta goes final, all the still-present testers get a bot named after them! :P
I would become "[NPC] Cmdr. Freeman" :P
I would become "[NPC] Cmdr. Freeman" :P
and I really wouldn't mind becoming [NPC]Renegade ++RIP++
but please, keep him away from pirating or newbiekilling :D
cheers

Mine would drop 4million trade goods, thus makeing the sector visual lag!
heheheheheheh
heheheheheheh
And [NPC]Pyro would go after pirates who were attacking traders in his rocketbus! :P
Vis camping bots: You know, lightning mines are great. Every freighter should have one. That's what I *so* miss about the Marauder--it has no means to drop mines at all. If I could just, like, staple one or two onto the rear (there's room on those crates), tug a mine free by pulling on a string, I'd be happy.
Regular mines aren't too shabby either. Mines really are a trader's friend. Nothing says, "Back off, sucka!" more than a face full of mine. It's the oil slick dropper of the 62nd century, man.
No, seriously! Camping bots are not an issue. Besides, they still can't keep up with skip-boosting.

Admittedly, it is cool that they turbo now though.
I think the bots should just have different routines depending on how far out they are. They should head back to within _ KM of the center of the sector if they're beyond that distance and don't have a target for more than a certain amount of time.

I think the new bots are great, love 'em. 3.1's bots were easy to fool with a few barrel rolls. Got a great surprise when i went to shoot one, and it shot back.... ON TARGET! =) eek.. he he
it's a shame bots cant follow routes between sectors, multi sector patrol bots? how about several npc factions? then we can get involved in bot wars too!
asphy

Well, that would add a lot of authenticity to the game. For example, bots that appeared to warp in, an Itani fleet from one side of 8, a Serco fleet from the other, and proceeded to blow each other to bits. Something like this was used in Escape Velocity, and it really gave the feeling that one was in the midst of a war.
