10.3.9
I saw this thread, and duly posted my mac OSX version, then noticed others with OSX 10.4.3...so I went to do the software update, but had a problem in the middle of the install, had to reinstall OSX and repair disk. Now have 10.4.3, but it took a lot of hassle, and I haven't noticed any difference since the update.
Since I started playing VO I've been through quite a few different OS 10.3 and 10.4 versions, and I have to say this is the most impressively stable game I've ever played. I have NEVER had VO crash, quit or freeze.
10.4.3 from UNODOS when ingame
Another for the road then..

Oh, and harry, according to pithhelmet's website, it DOES support 10.4.3 :) "...This version is compatible with all versions of Safari 2.0.x - including the new version released with the Mac OS X 10.4.3 update."

OS X Tiger 10.4.3
Gotta love it! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^------------------
Sky strider, there are a lot of under-the-hood changes. They help a lot. I've seen some of them in action even from 10.4.2 to 10.4.3. One of them was a fuction in OpenGL(Or AL, can't remember) which supported GLSL shader system. It's really nice.

OpenAL is an audio library, so unless that's what you're talking about, I'm betting it's GL. :)

Oh yes, sorry, I didn't know AL was Audio Library, but now it makes sense. Yes, I did mean OpenGL. OS X 10.4.3 comes with some new features in that area. :) Very useful for modern graphics engines.
