Can I have some training?
That's the spirit, Shape! =)
You'd have to "unlearn" your old tricks, Leber! =D

You forget I have no "moves" or "tricks" or "skill".
I just hit buttons, move the mouse around wildly and try to shoot in the general direction of my opponent(s). Sometimes I luck out and get a kill.

Leber, I must say... I must say I am shocked. And disappointed. A space myth and legend has just gone up in... well, no, not flames, really, as there are none in space, but whatever passes for space explosions in these parts of the universe.
The way I had imagined you fighting... perhaps this is silly, and perhaps I should have realized at an early age there are no such things as legendary pilots or invincible fighting skills, and perhaps my father (an UIT who never had any wings of his own) was not the right man to listen to, but...
I had imagined you downing five bottles of whiskey, setting an unsteady course toward Sedina, dying 6 times from running into roids, but finally arriving in B-8 and proceeding to shot wildly at everything until there was nothing left alive in the sector, including you, while being absolutely impossible to hit all the while due to your drunken, disordely and completely unpredictable flying pattern.
Of course, that tactic is not incongruent with what you mentioned above. For the sake of legends, myths and a young boy's wild and naive hope, say it is so...

Leber practices the "skill of no skill"
Ion is not so far off some nights... I can say that piloting is substantially more FUN when drinking, however my death-to-PK ratio goes up substantially after 5 Scotch whiskeys.
So-Lotus can confirm... Hehe.
However, the Itani PR flacks tend to spin my wild misadventures out of proportion...

I'm game for joining a guild. I'm a new UIT bounty hunter.
If you're a bounty hunter, you're probably looking for the Vipers, who spend their time protecting UIT (and grey) space from pirates. You might also look into the CDC (Cerberes Defense Council), who is an escort guild for hire.
The concept of a newbie guild is great, yes. There is really only one problem, and it only takes this one problem for the whole idea not to work. Its the same reason why there are so few active guilds out there.
Here's the math:
Takes 10 players to form a guild.
There's an average of 30-50 players online at any given time (there were 15 on when I posted this)
How many of those are newbies?
How many of those newbies would want to join a newbie guild?
If you do actually get a guild started, how many players of that guild would be online at the same time?
I'm not saying its impossible, and I'd certainly do anything to help - if you need some names on the list, or if you want me to act like a noob (wouldn't be that hard, I'm not that far off, actually), then I'm game.
All I'm saying is that it will be very difficult to start one. But not impossible.

<< Honestly, a new guild is the wrong idea, and not simply because we have to many, though we DO. If you want to learn about the game, why figure it out yourself when you could join an established guild, learn the ropes and if you decide that the guild your in is not quite what you were lookinig for start a new one. >>

LOL
- yea "we have too many" inactive guilds.
- don't force people to join your "cloned guilds"
- players must have opportunity to create a guild/clan.
10 players online (to create a guild) is really dumb in a game with low players online.

I doon't understand
Maybe what's needed is a more along the line of persistant groups, possibly linked with the buddy-lists. Something that isn't as "officious" as a guild, but allows some of the same communications abilities. I don't know how do-able it would be with the current UI, but maybe the new UI would be flexable enough to support it.
rofles, you guys are like little kids. *snickers*
celery, icq me 5577778 i'm down for a newbie guild. i'm injector in-game.
and whoever suggested it, i am pretty sure we don't need a RP background.

I'm into help. Creating a guild is relatively easy, it just takes time and an ability to "sell" it to folks. Look at SCAR, it started out small (it took about 2 months to create) and is now quite large with quite an active playerbase.
