Hmmmm... I seem to remember agave as one of the plants included in the original terraforming plans, since it's a hardy plant that can withstand much. You sure there are none left in Serco Prime and/or whatever the Itani's homeworld is?
There is always Hope™.

Agave worms are used to make Tequila?
a1k0n is doin the update right now! cant wait
We need an "Assorted Alcoholic Beverages" Widget =P
icbm, agave plants are used to make tequila, and the worm is a side-effect, so to speak. They say the worm gives it a special flavor, however, and nowadays all good tequila has the worm in it. So even if the worm itself is not present, the plant should be. Now we also just need to find out the recipe.
And of course, if it doesn't come from Mexico it's not Tequila!

The worm, a gusano (butterfly caterpillar) is only in American made tequila and is a marketing ploy. No Mexican tequilas have the worms.

Only Americans would drink something with a worm in it - and even Americans have to be drunk to do it.
True. No "true" tequila has worms at all.
A certain Mescal (the type of liquor, NOT the brand) adds gusano worms before the fermentation. This type of tequila is generally sold only in Mexico, and generally only American tourists would drink it. All other worms in "tequila" are basically added right before bottling & distribution.
They do nothing for the flavor.
Trust me I'm an expert...
