just wondering (and I didn't want to higjjack a thread) so, when do the alpha/beta players get big flying pie ships? or avalons ect. (perhaps only alpha/beta can get onto parts of the test server?)

Yeah, I remember, but in all seriousness, I think giving something like a special weapon or ship to Alpha/betas will be very unbalancing to the game. How does a non alpha/beta fight against a special weapon or ship they cannot get?

I think it's cool to reward loyal players in some way for being part of the game so long, but only if it doesn't unbalance trade or combat for those of us who haven't been around so long.

Personally, I think mentoring should get greater rewards, as should player created content. I think there should be a system in place to reward players who actively try to improve gameplay for others.

I' 'gree tumble, but, wtf is the valk there for if a noob in a hog can kill it? keep in mind, if you let the new-comer mindest come into play too much, it really ruins fun. the older players DO need waaay better stuff. as long as say, an alpha tester level 9 can get pie gun and bob is level 9, if bob thinks, and sees that alpha tester's gun takes 30 secs to reload after firing 50 shots, that he will have an open point..

I think what butthole is asking for is not a special gun that can pwn people, but just a special gun.

My fav toy for being a *pre order* customer (cos thats the only people they promised a special toy to :P) would be a 0 velocity gov plasma that did no damage, with a faster fire rate, and 25 second life for the *shots*

IE, I can write stuff in space, but none pre-order customers cannot :P

Well, I don't mind new stuff, and a wep that does no damage would be neat :)

But honestly, the Alphas and Betas already have an advantage, they've been able to play this game longer.

Now this advantage has eroded a great deal (there are a lot of very strong post-releasers), but I don't see that an extra few months of beta or even a year's worth of alpha SHOULD mean anything more.

Yay Alpha and Beta were fun, that sounds like the best reward right there.

yes. I've seen that, grave digging is a no-no though. it's been a common suggestion to get mine art.... at least the splash and damage wont be hard to put it. change some stuff to 0..

(oh, wait, it will have to be 1 damage, or the mines wont blow other mines up.)

I do remember being promised some kind of special stuff for us alpha/betas... that has yet to materialize...
And I was a *pre-order* customer, too.
