Now you've got it Starfisher. If he's encouraged to think of VO as Space Quake, then he'll never get an opportunity to think of it otherwise. Not that he'd take such an opportunity- he seems the type that would never consider playing a game other than Space Quake- but he deserves to be given the chance.

roguelazer, I'd agree with you if we actually had interesting missions that helped you level. Right now the combat missions we have are mind-numbingly boring after an hour or two; no one should have to suffer through them if they don't enjoy it, this is a game after all and if I can make one noobs experience more enjoyable by helping them reach a certain combat level through the standard missions we have now, how is that an exploit? That's why we have the mentoring system after all... right?

Ok everyone. Missions are boring, character advancement needs work, and we're trying to improve that (as you all know). Bigun's complaints are legit to some extent, and the ones that are out of date he'll have to discover through gameplay. The point of a game is to be Fun, and some parts of our game are lacking in Fun. I encourage mentoring as a way to (hopefully) show someone how to Get To The Fun. It isn't intended to short-circuit gameplay, but basic character advancement is only boring because of flaws/lack of gameplay anyhow.

So anyway, I think you guys have covered the major points on both sides, and there isn't a lot of benefit to further sniping on the topic.. so I'm locking the thread.
