I'm tired of waiting, I want a damn news update. Please guys you can take 10 to 15 minutes to tell us what's going on and when to expect it! I haven't complained like this in awhile, and it's been a long time since the last update. In all the time I've played vendetta(since september 2004) there has NEVER been this much time in between updates. I'm sorry but I just can't wait much longer. Please give us SOMETHING. Just tell us what excatly you're working on?!?!

No! No update yet! GTA San Andreas came out for Xbox yesterday and I'll have to split my time if the update comes out soon.

WORK SLOWER DEVS!

Patience. All Will Be Revealed in Due Time.

In the mean time, try playing CTC for the OTHER side, see if you can pull it off. Serco try to deliver goods to Coranis, Itani to Catequil.

It’s not a real update but there are some changes planned for the Cap ship battle this Saturday.

1. Cap ships will spawn at there ready positions
UIT -- Azek I-16, Serco -- Initros O-12 and Itani -- Edras H-15
2. Turrets will now fire different weapons. Not just AGTs. Not sure what weapons though.
3. And most important cap ship and turret armor has been increased. Not sure by how much.
4. And hopefully bot behavior will change to allow the cap ships to actually survive ion storms.

Read more about Cap ship changes here:

I know this is not a replacement for an update but its something. Those minor changes will give a whole new feel to the cap ship battles.

And before FM says it “Be Patient they’re working on it :)”

In Progress hasn't been updated, but the News area has had progress updates on a fairly regular basis. The last one was a tad vague, but they're dealing with the unknowns of an office move and a new member of the development team. A new dev involves quite a few unknown variables that make it hard to project exactly when things will happen, and in what order. Fortunately, momerath appears to be a quick study and has a good attitude - so I'm expecting that he'll settle in quickly.

Hi guys. As people from late-night IRC can vouch, I was planning for an update this week or next. Most likely a balancing thing. I'll post more about that later.

The last couple of months have had some upheaval, in terms of Waylon leaving, hiring Michael (who I still haven't properly introduced, and I will) and moving our office (and internet, and phone <still in progress> and blah blah). So yeah, that's part of what's made for an unusual delay in releasing updates.

The other factor is exactly what we're working on right now. A lot of time is going into developing tools, and rebuilding the AI/mission system to let us do a lot more without investing so much time in the individual missions. "Tools" development time is never very exciting, but the potential for what it lets us do is worth every penny, so to speak. The potential for what it could let *you* do is even cooler :).

So, part of what's in the works is the hive stuff, but it has a much larger scope than that.. as we're basically rewriting/building stuff that will allow us to easily create the hive, and a host of other gameplay, in a much shorter period of time. This is also laying the foundation for opening up the creation of gameplay on a wider scale.. but I'll talk more about that a bit further down the road.

So anyway, sorry for the delay everyone. We're getting back on track now, after all the moving and blah, so you should be seeing something "Soon" (and by Soon, I mean within a week). I have a laundry list of balancing stuff I want to do, and I'll post about that elsewhere.

..well, let me be the first to say, "w00!! :D"

...I would say "w00", only this is actually saying that we won't be seeing anything *new* for some time yet. Only balance updates.

This is going to be one hell of a quiet period...

WOOO! My thread served a purpose! Thanks for responding incarnate! It made my day.

Well some of us dorks like the balance updates better than the *new* stuff anyway. I am my own content, or something.

Hoax <-- signed for proper functioning P.S.

P.S. Please remove all the armour on the Rev C, 2 ports on the IBG and the engine slot on the SC. Give all of these to the stock hornet.

regardless of all the moving I'm quite disapointed to hear that there is only going to be a balancing update, what a waste of time.

Did you read his post? The rest of the devs are working on content tools, while Incarnate fiddles with the balance tables. You've been around long enough to know the dev's situation johnhawl - demanding updates is unrealistic, especially when they tell you flat out what they're doing.

Edit: umm...Momerath posted before me, I wrote my post, and he proceded to delete his post before I was done. (see? : http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v178/Dimpfinator/toldya.png ) Bah. :P

In case this doesn't make so much sense, he said something along the lines of (this is paraphrased, very much so...) "When we get these tools done, we could have a new feature every week, though the tools could take about a month. Or, we could have a new feature every month, and no tools" (and that was very much paraphrased...:P )

I can attest to the usefulness of good dev tools, and while I understand that this is something the Devs need to get done, there are a number of other changes that I would like to see implemented that *probably* don't take special tools to accomplish.

My personal wishlist. :P

•Alternate warpout sequences. I just want to see my ship from a different camera angle every so often.
•A throatier turbo noise, and more bass in general: http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10343
•Delayed ship explosions (this would prolly be a bit more work) http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10429
•Abandoned stations to fight in/around. (this would keep us entertained for...I can't even imagine, but it would be a long time) http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10295
•Standing System fix. (can't find the topic for this one...bah)
•Cargo triggering proximity on rockets. http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10456
•Change in respawning. http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/10466

The reason I name all these things is because I think that, while missions are well and good, there are many other things that could be done while the tools are being created. By no means am I demanding these things, but I would *really* like to see 'em. Things like the abandoned stations and alternate warpouts add more spice to the game, and help relieve the staleness of watching the same warpout sequences, or fighting the same/similar battles in empty space.

regardless of all the moving I'm quite disapointed to hear that there is only going to be a balancing update, what a waste of time.

Have you ever tried programming/designing an MMOG? No? Then don't presume to know what and what isn't a waste of the dev's time. This is flamebait and should be deleted.

As an aside, in my personal experience the term "waste of time" is an oxymoron. There's no such thing.

I didn't really say anything Incarnate hadn't already; I was trying to clarify since johnhawl didn't seem to "get it". I decided that anyone who didn't really read Incarnate's post probably wouldn't read mine, so...

maybe if we all scream and shout and get emotionally upset, an update will come out faster.

WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

BOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!

for those who had no idea: this post is filled with sarcasm and is making fun of whiners in general and macguy in particular

Being beligerent and/or disappointed will not inspire the devs to work harder.

In the mean time, until the main update that everyone is clamoring for is finished, try focusing your energies on more positive endeavors. The ship contest was a good effort. I have a design kicking around in my head that I need to put down on paper. Also, there are entries in the Wiki that could be completed. Devise a new mining map system that seems to be missing from the new wiki. I see there is a new movie on the boards. Train a new player perhaps, get them addicted. Read the suggestions board and see how you can help refine an idea.

There is plenty to do if you just make an effort. Flaming on the boards or scaring away newbs in game are not helping.
