Recommendations please?

So, I have had a Gear VR in the past and know how awesome VO is in VR. I was limited my my pretty ordinary mini controller, but have had a go with an Oculus Quest 2, and found the controllers pretty awesome. Sadly, it doesn't appear I can simply install VO on it and play.

I would like recommendations of Oculus Quest style "self contained" VR sets that CAN play VO.

So, VR pilots, what are you all using, and how is it in terms of UI?

I play VO on the Quest 1 and it's awesome. You have to sideload it which means you need to unlock your Quest as a developer. You then need to get hold of the APK which I took off my Oculus Go before I sold it. Luckily the APK file never changes, updates just replace the native libs. I could share the APK but Incarnate asked me not to do it so it's press him to host it directly on this site or use SideQuest like other distributors do.

Hard to give a solid recommendation right now apart from what Slash said above. It is obviously not known to us if VO will ever be playable stand alone on the Quest 2 (it works via link cable sure), so the best option right now really is the OG Quest or the Go. I mean, if stand alone was not an issue, I probably would have got the Quest 2 also, but my PC is in need of a serious update before I could rely on that so I got a Quest and side loaded it for now (you can still find them new in the USA, but not sure about Auz).

Runs great, have to use a third party controller for proper control but its decent. Never tried the GearVR version on an actual GearVR, but it runs smooth as butter on the Quest.

@Incarnate why not host the Go APK on this site or on SideQuest and then anybody can sideload it onto the Quest ?

I just followed this guide SlashGorden : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIzCThapGqY&ab_channel=OPENPCreviews So, I'm sure this works and anyone can do it without relying on a 3rd party store. After all the problems with alternative .apk stores (like apktoid, where most apks are full of viruses) I can understand why Incarnate might not want to trust hosting of an .apk file to a potentially untrusted source.
