I hear you, but we are planning to back-propagate some of the more popular plugin features into the default interface.
However, we are not likely to do it by re-using plugin code, we'll probably re-write it ourselves. A lot of the plugins have performance problems that we can't have in the production builds, and we can probably implement them a bit differently when they aren't required to be.. plugins.

Even fixing up the sector list would help tremendously. Right now it doesn't differentiate between friendly/hostile and it's totally blank if you're in an ion storm or fog, even if there's radar blips in range.
