Bluetooth controller question(s)
Looking at getting Bluetooth controller for my new phone and I know moga power is fully supported... then I came across http://www.madcatz.com/gamepads/surfrsamsung.php
Is bt controller support pretty universal nowadays in vo?
Anyone tried SURFR with vo?
What kind(s) of issues would I run into if SURFR isn't supported?
If it's just not already having "default" controls that's no prob. Set up a 70 plus command DBbefore... assigning controls to a controller is a cakewalk.
But if the game is picky about what controller it'll work at all with then that could be an issue and wasted money

I havent found a controller that VO doesnt support, so long as the OS supports it. So, does your phone support bluetooth? if it does, i'm 90% sure the controller will work with VO. 10% not positive only cause I havent used every controller out there, but...
Samsung Galaxy Note 8... it bettah support Bluetooth lol
That looks quite neat, but I'm afraid you are going to have to be a guinea pig for us I guess? As long as the device shows up as a HID controller with HID keyboard I would say with 95% certainty that it would work, the only controllers I have found that tend not to work are the cheaper ones that actually try to emulate mice and other keypresses instead of being a full controller. Being from MadCatz I cannot see this being the case but I also cannot find more technical information online than what is already on their website.

Looking at reviews it seems it has a mode toggle to switch between the two modes I mention above (It can be a proper joypad and an emulated mouse), if this is the case it would be a perfect VO companion. Hmm, I am half tempted to just buy one, the Moga is great and all, but the added keys and the layout seems to jump out at me.

I want one!
got S.U.R.F.r... backspace doesn't work in-game, at all.
punctuation only works while the switch on top is set to media (or whatever they call the non gamepad mode).
L3 R3 buttons take the place of joystick click... but they're buttons, and kinda part of the keyboard. There's no actual joystick click.

all kinds of controllers have their own quirks. blame the controller developers for being inconsistant.
the remarks were about the controller, and the rather lackluster approach the companies making Bluetooth gamepads for mobile are taking. :)
Also tried the smaller moga power... the particular one I received literally came out the box sending left joystick down signal when that joystick was being pushed up. Also down signal when pushed down. and just general lack of precision in both joysticks overall even outside of the first mentioned issue.
on the plus side for the little moga power.. easy to hold while heavy note 8 clipped to it - because the mount is part of the controller instead of a clip on behind the controller, and a longer depth (top to bottom)... just not good precision in the joysticks
surfr actually did alright on prison but sticks too short / to tight of springs for the length of the sticks.
Also short on depth with phone mount literally off the back - both things working in tandem to make it harder than it should be to hold while phone attached
two brands, both disappointing.
Anyone tried ps3/ps4 controller with or without the 'aftermarket' part (phone clip)?
Or razer serval?

after just now finding out at least some, if not all, ps4 controllers have an accelerometer... I'm really curious if anyone uses ps4 controller - and if the controller's built in accelerometer is recognized by VO as a bindable axis or two... or if there's another way to get the controllers built in accelerometer to be recognized by VO.
Or if it's not really recognized as bindable but can work just like the phone tilt options (without phone clipped to controller).
If so - then the search for a Bluetooth controller is absolutely done for me... goin ps4 controller lol
another possibility: android itself doesn't recognize ps4 controllers accelerometer at all... but I'm hoping it does, even if an app is needed
