About the chord thing (sorry a late reply, I know) but on PC/phone you can clear them and bind them with the /bind command
Like /bind ChordYB "" will clear the jettison function and /bind ChordXY "" will clear the joystick help thingy, is this not the same on GearVR? I don't have one, but it does work on both regular droid and PC.
[edit]
Those are the only two bindable chords, you cannot add extra, but should help with removing the quite crappy defaults.

The Gear VR subreddit has a few very enthusiastic threads regarding VO right now:

The text to speech still doesn't work on my s6, I get an error every time. Which is a shame because it seems like a really usefull feature. I have tried all of the suggestions listed here but still no luck.
Also it would be cool if you added more voice chat options like a hail other player ship option, or maybe even sector voice channels.

my text chat doesnt work either, click the button, makes a beep and nothing. even went through my phone and made sure all my text to speech options were configure correctly per comment made on this forum. Galaxy s6 edge plus.
I have an s7. My voice to text originally worked but then stopped. I would get a network error 22 I think, but I uninstalled and reinstalled VO and my voice to text started working again.
I don't know how to get regular voice chat working. Everyone I've talked to on the server said they use discord instead of the in game voice feature and since I've gotten voice to text working I haven't needed it.

Yep reinstalling VO seems to be the fix. Now speech to text works great. :D
The only two glaring [ISSUE]s I've found are
(1) Interface drift. The interface literally moves either to the right or the left VERY slowly. Sometimes it won't move for 10 or 20 minutes, but then randomly I'll find my neck hurting because I'm looking almost all the way to the right to see the ship's console. It's very strange. I've watched it do it while sitting still in a station looking at the menu. Over about 2 minutes the PDA menu had moved from dead center to the far right despite not having moved my head at all.
(2) Trigger's not functioning properly on the Steel Series Stratus XL. I haven't seen this in any other game and even bought a new controller to test it out and make sure it wasn't just my controller. It wasn't. For some reason everytime I open the game, I have to recalibrate the right and left triggers and even then, they'll become uncalibrated randomly, so I found I just have to disable them or else my ship will randomly start doing circles when I leave a dock. This is a bit of an issue, I'm not sure why the values are almost always reported differently on those, but I'd be A-OK with making those triggers fake digital buttons instead of analog controls if the analog controls simply don't work. As long as I can use those buttons for /something/ (preferably turning) I'll be happy.
Not specifically an issue, but something I'd like to have anyways, I want the ability to reassign all the buttons on the controller. It's not something I need, just something I want. And maybe an easier way to recalibrate the screen. Going into settings or pressing and holding on the back button to calibrate the screen position is a little annoying. For reference, I'm using the S7 on Sprint, no SD card, current firmware and current game version, as mentioned above I have the Steel Series Stratus XL game controller and the first "consumer version" (the white one, as opposed to the two "innovator editions" that came before it) of the GearVR.

I agree fully with #1 that WakeArray just posted. The interface drifts.
Also agree that an easier way to calibrate needs implementing.
I'd also like to add that vertical calibration is needed. I like sitting back in my recliner while hauling. Maintaining a rigid vertical position just to fly around is uncomfortable. I'd love to be able to just sit back, start VO, hit a button that calibrated horizontal and vertical to be centered where my head is currently aimed, and start playing.
Agree as well on being able to bind all my controller keys. I use a Moga power pro. It's a pain to have to change up my controller scheme between regular VO and 3DVO. Being that I can no longer see my game pad, that inherent muscle memory has even more power to press a certain button and expecting a certain reaction.
Can't seem to find the plug in folder, or the entire VO folder for that matter now. Has it hidden from us?

We have a Steel Series Stratus XL and haven't had any problem with the trigger controls. We recently released an update that attempts to do auto-calibration of the trigger controls. Just pressing them fully and releasing them should be enough to auto-calibrate.
The plugins folder should be located in Android/data/com.guildsoftware.vendettagearvr/files/plugins

I had a broken speech to text and these were my two fixes:
-If you are in gear and have the beta voice thing on oculus home turn it off by pressing it and then selecting settings.
-I cant have voice chat and voice to text at the same time. After you turn off voice chat you need to restart VO

EscapeVR, a YouTube channel that reviews Gear VR content, had high praise for Vendetta Online placing it at the very top of their 'best games of 2016', which I think is pretty cool:

I too have the Steel Series Stratus XL (using the Gear VR with Edge 7) and have been having some issues with the triggers. Will either start to roll right from the Launch or might be out just cruising around and suddenly start to roll. When this happens I will go and calibrate right away and sometimes this will fix the issue and sometimes not. I have even calibrated several times one after another and MAYBE eventually it will resolve. Sometimes the roll is so slow I will just stay with it and correct with the other trigger ever so often. Thought about trying to set up the controller with the Steel Series site engine to see if that might help. But for sure is an issue with the Vendetta game since all my other flight games, so far, have not had the same issue.
If anyone has tried to correct this with the Steel Series engine and helped please let me know or if there is something I am missing on the calibrate. It is a bit confusing on exactly how to calibrate on the UI or heads up display. Thanks for any input here. When it first started to happen I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was going on since sometimes it was working just fine.

We've had a few people report problems like this, with Steel Series XL controllers. We have several of them, and ours are all fine.
But, it seems like there's a periodic manufacturing defect in some of the controllers that causes this sort of "trigger is ON even when it isn't depressed" kind of thing. You can try re-calibrating the shoulder-triggers in the Options area of the game. Or, you could also try un-binding the "rotate" control from whichever side is causing the issue.
We've already done some work to alleviate this issue, and pushed one patch about it, we'll see what we can do beyond that, but it gets into diminishing value.. or it starts hurting other people who don't have flawed controllers.
Most other games don't demonstrate the issue, because they don't use the shoulder-triggers at all, or only use them for on/off functionality and not as actual analog inputs (which they are), or frankly they don't have enough game complexity for the problem to be as noticeable. Our game is kind of a worst-case scenario for this sort of issue.
Sorry about this, we'll see what we can do.. I already have it on my list to reach out to Steel Series directly and try and engage with them about it.

Manual view toggle works in the menu but the F9 rebind doesnt. Id like to fight in first person but see my ship once in a while.
Hrm... Seems to change at next jump or dock. Menu version is instant.
Regarding the "drift" tendency of the SteelSeries Stratus XL controller on the Gear VR, I too have that issue from time to time. To "fix" it, I just toggle the power on the controller itself and it resolves the issue.
I do receive popups from VO about turning on the controller prior to the game launching, which I dismiss, but I don't experience any negative effects following the power toggle.
I've also noticed that toggling Anti-Aliasing in the Options part of the HUD "locks the UI". The headtracking ceases to work on the selection dot and the environment moves very slightly when I turn my head. Kind of trippy really.
I've got to say, playing VO on the GearVR has got to be the best dang thing ever. Thank you! I'm new to the game and just running around solo doing noob missions, but I'm pretty sure I'll be playing it a very long time.
*Edit below*
I've also found that going into the controller configuration and tapping the "Scan for Joysticks" button will also reset the drift. This saves the need to toggle power on the controller. Adding this info to the thread in case it helps other users or the devs.
