NVIDIA shield?
Hi I was thinking about buying a NVIDIA shield which is android powered. Has anyone tested out the controller for it? It is android based so I believe it could run the game. But does it require a different controller?
The Shield controller works great with VO. I do not find it the most comfortable pad to hold, and the default controls might need some tweaking - but it works as well as a PS3 or Xbox pad. Also because the tablet can dock onto the pad, you can easily use the touch screen for things like menu navigation, setting nav points and even targeting (to a point).
There are basically three different "shield" devices now, the original "portable" (hand-held console with integrated controller), the newer "tablet" (with seperate controller), and then the AndroidTV (hook-up-to-TV console style device).
We work pretty closely with NVIDIA, and we usually have samples of these devices long before they ship to market, and generally speaking they're well supported by VO. They're also some of the fastest Android devices you can buy, as they're made more specifically for gaming and not as "phones" or whatever.

I'm on NVIDIA Shield TV. And just started playing too. Im having a few couple problems that I would LOVE for someone to help with. You should know that I use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard for Vendetta Online. Some of these problems are probably complete Nooby-ness. 1) Mouse view control doesn't work. Ive used mouse on other applications so its not the mouse. When I move the mouse the camera just goes crazy! This isn't too big of a deal because ive grown to like the keyboard view control.
2) I CAN NOT FIND THE SHIP TAB... I've looked for hours, and cannot find it. Ive been trying to complete the Mining Tutorial, but I cant because I cant equip the scanner. This is my main problem and if this cant be resolved, I wont be able to get into this game that seems amazing :(.
Any help is much appreciated! Thank you in advance and sorry for being so ignorant. :)

The mouse problem, unfortunately is an Android/VO problem. It simply does not work, although I have played other games (like the recent DoomGLES port, and a Quake port) that work with a mouse fine, VO on Android does not support mice for movement; only for menu navigation. (This should probably be looked at again by the devs, but there is nothing you can do for now).
For the Ship menu, you use the top shoulder buttons on the pad to move between menus, and on most Android ports, you swipe the touchscreen. As I take it you are using neither, the solution would be to turn off the condensed UI, and then you can access the ship menu with your mouse.
Go to Options > Advanced > Interface > Untick "Use condensed UI" and hit apply. You should now have a UI that is much better suited for your display/controller choice. (You may want to try without Condensed HUD too)

Android supports mice as a "virtual touch event", basically a "finger" that is highly problematic to use for FPS-type "mouselook" in a way that also gives button inputs (there are also some custom USB driver hacks, but those are potentially quite painful to support on a large scale. It's also possible on a rooted device, but that's obviously not useful for any meaningful market share).
NVIDIA, Google and ourselves went back and forth over this issue for some years. NVIDIA ended up creating their own custom mouse API, which is specific to their devices, and we do not support that as of yet.
Google's AndroidTV initiative, on the other hand, is officially mandated to be controller-only (a requirement for approval), and mouse is not considered to be an option by Google. So, we've been pushed firmly in that direction.
We'll probably take another look at mouse input down the road, but Google is not into mouselook and wants everyone on Xbox-style game controllers. So, that's the direction we've put more development into, recently.

FWIW I have a Razer ForgeTV + Servo controller which is a similarly classed device and VO runs great on it .
