It's not possible to do that at this time on Android unless you have a keyboard (bluetooth or otherwise) connected.

Interesting. I happen to have a Bluetooth keyboard but I have no idea how to get my phone to recognize it. I've looked through both the bluetooth options and the input options and haven't found any way to set that up.

Does that maybe require some third party app being installed to handle that?

If you pair the keyboard to the phone.. it should just work? Android will recognize it as a bluetooth keyboard and use it appropriately. We have a Logitech keyboard at our office that works like that, no other "setup" is required.

As to the specifics of exactly how the keyboard is paired.. usually you have to turn it "on" and then put the phone into pair mode, and hopefully it'll pop up. But you might need to google for the manual to your specific keyboard model, in case it has some unusual requirements (like holding some button down to put it into pairing mode).

Yeah it's that pairing thing that I was loosely refering to as setup. I couldn't find anything in the phone about pairing. I'll google it.
