VO and Kindle Fire.

Hi,

I've recently bought a new Kindle Fire HD 7" 32GB model from Amazon UK. I'm led to believe that VO works on the Kindle Fire after reading it somewhere in the news section and seeing related topics on the forums. However I can't seem to get the game on my device for some reason.

The first thing I tried was searching for it in the Amazon UK Appstore, but I found nothing. When I looked on the Amazon Appstore for Android however it was there, I tried installing it but it wouldn't let me, telling me something about geographical location issues.

So then I searched around the forums here and came across this topic http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/7/24361 and tried installing it using the Android Market, that failed too.

Am I overlooking or missing something here to get it to work? Also is it a possibility VO would be released on the Amazon UK Appstore in the future?

Thanks

GuildSoftware doesn't really have much control over region limiting done by Amazon. The game does work on the Kindle Fire, and many players have used the device. You can always use the sideload installation listed in that thread you linked to get it installed. But to save you the trouble, I'll provide it again here.

Just downloaded VO from the Amazon App Store in the UK today - region problem seems to be fixed?

I'm playing VO on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9". I had to sideload it, but that's not too bad. It runs really well, and the graphics are outstanding. 1920x1200 display makes the logon screen on VO so small I almost can't click on the fields or button.

VO needs to scale that stuff based on the screen resolution.

Draugath's droid plugins are great, and also need to scale based on the resolution.

A lot of things *do* scale depending on what the HUD scaling settings are. Type /alias at the console and look at the hudscale ones. You could try a few of those or try setting the X and Y scaling directly until you find something more usable.

That doesn't work if the plugin in question isn't designed to scale or recreate itself when those scaling aliases are used.

Right, but that's plugin problems. Lisa was talking about the login screen.

I just got a kindle fire hd and had no trouble installing, the tutorial (which was great) went well, and I was able to login using my long-dormant account. BUT... I am unable to leave the station as the menus seem to be going off the right side of my screen. I couldn't figure out how to correct this, so either there's a bug here, or I am stupid (or both).

You might need to enable the condensed UI in the options somewhere.

I got a brand new Kindle Fire for Christmas, enjoying it so far. I did request this as my old kindle keyboard died and i had heard that Vendetta worked on the fire.

Okay so my experiences so far, searched the app store, found and installed vendetta, or so i thought, went to play it 3 or 4 times and just got a black screen. On the 5th attempt to run, it requested a 250mb download. Once that had completed, I got to play the tutorials and all looks okay. Controls will take some getting used too since coming from a mouse/flightstick set up.

However and this seems to be a stopper for me, when I login to my account and start at the station. The station page is too large for the screen and i can't see the launch button. Which sort of kills game play for me. I am told to use the phone menu button, this flips between, chat menu, station welcome menu, select/configure ship menu & mission menu, back button takes me out to the controls screem (sort of the equivalent to hitting escape). I've looked for some screen resolution changes here and can't find any.

Starting to think that this is only set up to play on the 8.9" kindle fire which is not available in the UK.

Any advise, aside from go play "Galaxy on Fire 2 HD"?

Per draugath's suggestion, I checked for the "condensed ui" setting, but it was already set. Setting it made things worse, as I expected; then it ran off the screen both vertically and horizontally. With "condensed ui" set it only goes off the right edge.

In my last post, I forgot to mention that I have the 7" model.

++thanks

Thanks for the reports. I've verified the problem with the KF HD 7" tablet clipping off the buttons on the side.
<edit>
If possible, try to use "Back" to open the Options menu and go to Interface and turn off font scaling.

Thanks! I thought I looked through all the settings, but somehow I missed the "font scaling" setting. It was set to 1.5. Unsetting it fixed things. It also worked to reduce the setting, but going all the way to 0.5 is not a good idea unless you have TINY fingers :)

Many thanks!

You're welcome. The latest update also changed the default settings to 1.2 instead of 1.5 for the kfhd 7" tablet.
