Device Compatibility (SGS3)

Jul 20, 2012 AviiNL link
Hello,

I have played VO a very long time ago when i was looking for a space sim for linux,
Now that i noticed it is out for android as well, i thought i had to try it.
However, my new Samsung Galaxy S 3 is not supported according to the google play store.
So i thought, lets find a direct download, and found one pretty quickly actually.
Installed that one, and it runs pretty good.
So far I have done the tutorials and am screwing around with the settings now.
Only 'bug' i found is when i put scaling on full (in the videos window) there is a bug with z-depth.
Other then that i have not found a single issue.

On to the actual question,
Why does the play store say my device (Samsung Galaxy S 3) is not supported.
As it does actually work, is it possible that the device can be added to the support list?

Update 1:
As soon as I hit play after creating a character the window with Entering Universe shows up,
This took a while and my device was idle, i Think the stand-by mode kicked in at some point crashing the game, will try again now.

Update 2:
Ok, for some reason the loading bar did not even show up the first time.
It did now and i am now in the station.

Update 3:
I think the crash that happened before was due to an unstable WiFi connection.
I changed the texture resolution in the settings and it had to reload, and while that was loading it crashed again. either due to WiFi or the screen wanting to go to standby mode.

Kind regards,
AviiNL

The problem is the limited ability of the Play Store to differentiate between hardware and respective support. We're able to limit support to known-good chips by supported texture compression. However, the ARM Mali chip, which a good performer, only supports ETC1 compression. We cannot enable support for it within the Play Store without also allowing tons of other ETC1-only chips, including many that will not run the game.

If large numbers of people are offered a product that will not run on their device, they will give it negative reviews, no matter how many warnings or descriptions are given to them in advance. These poor reviews will degrade our standing in the Play Store, sales and future business opportunities.
