What device and OS version?
Are you playing on Wifi or 3G? My friend had a similar problem when playing on 3G (On his Samsung Galaxy S2 which has similar hardware) when his connection switched between 3G/2G, but never froze on Wifi.
Im running it on the galaxy p1000 with WiFi connection. I know it isnt made for this device but it runs perfectly until about ten minutes in.
So it does this on a Motorola Droid 1, and also on a Samsung Galaxy P1000? Or do you just mean the P1000?
Is this still running on Froyo? Or Gingerbread?
Is there any other related activity that correlates with the lockup? Are you entering a new sector, or potentially sitting somewhere busy and a big convoy may have been jumping in just then?
Are you still able to use the menus and exit from the game? Do you get disconnected from the server? Or does it just force close the app? Do you have to reboot the device?

Sorry, by droid i just meant android. Im using a galaxy p1000. When the game freezes the whole machine does too and im forced to turn it off and reboot. There arent any apparent reasons for it, as in ships entering the sector or anything. It just seems to happen after about 10 minutes or so. Im not running it under any app, just the android client. Thanks a bunch for all ur help incarnate.

Anything causing a total device lock is a major firmware problem, most likely some kind of low-level kernel problem (PowerVR driver, or perhaps some samsung-specific code). Chances are, the game is pushing the device much harder than other apps, and is exposing the issue.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time this kind of thing has happened. VO is kind of "the game that breaks devices".. not because we're doing anything wrong specifically, but because we're doing a whole lot of everything, and the OEMs (companies like Samsung) are mostly testing with apps like "Angry Birds" that don't stress the hardware nearly as much.
It may also be related to the use of the emulation program (Chainfire 3D) that's triggering the problem. But, basically no application should ever be able to make a device completely hardlock. These things run Linux, a very resilient OS, so the only times when you should experience a device-lockup is a literal hardware problem (like overheating.. a small possibility) or a bug in some kind of low level driver code (a big possibility).
Is this device running Froyo (Android 2.2)? Or is it running Gingerbread (Android 2.3)?
There is still a possibility that we may be able to find some settings that work for you, and/or it may start working better once we release native PowerVR support.

Wow, you're playing from a tablet on a bus in Thailand? That's pretty awesome.
We're actually in the midst of testing some fixes for PowerVR. If we're lucky (fingers crossed) we may get it pushed out this week.

Please give the game a try now. I would recommend the following:
- Disable Chainfire 3D.
- Go into /sdcard/VendettaOnline with a file explorer and delete 'config.ini' and 'wgaf.cfg'.
- Go into Settings -> Applications -> Vendetta Online and do:
- "Clear Data"
- Uninstall the app.
- Then go into the Android Market and find the official install of the game. If you don't have the Android market, download the latest official sideload build.
- Only then, run the game.
It won't force you to re-download all the big files, but it should give you the official PowerVR hardware support, which may be more stable for you. Please let us know how it works. Thanks!

Damn, talk about a boner-kill. Now VO wont even load up anymore on my Galaxy... I got past the download and the updates, then pressed "play" and i see the guild software logo and poop! back to the main screen of my device. the device itself doesnt stop working tho, and the app, when i search in the task manager, is no longer running.
thanks for all your hard work and i cant wait to play this on my handheld :]

Can you create a Support Ticket and paste your errors.log into it, from /sdcard/VendettaOnline? We'll try to fix the issue if we can.
We may also need you to generate a "logcat" dump. There's an app on the Market called "aLogCat" that will let you save out the logcat immediately after the game exits like this. Hopefully that will provide more answers for us.

How do i create a "support ticket"? i could just paste the errors.log into a support request form, but i wouldnt know what do do with the logcat dump, unless its also a text file. Ill send ya the errors thing then figure out the logcat deal. Keep up the good work and support!
Ok, i figured it out. copied and pasted both the errors.log and the aLogCat text to a support query and sent it in. Hope it helps.
Thanks much, we'll take a look and hopefully come up with something.
Katofmine: Ray posted to the support ticket asking you to try a specific configuration change. Have you had a chance to look at that? Thanks.
yesive gotit. haventhada chance to reconfigure the .inihe suggested but as soon asim out of workerbee mode ill get on itand letyouknow. thanks again guys

alrightey, well i went to change the file and it turns out its not there anymore. not knowing what to do, i deleted everything in the Vendetta Online folder and reinstalled through the app store. But alas, still no config.ini folder to be found. Where might a hustling hippopotamus procure one of these illusive files?
