VO Working on HTC Desire HD Phone
Just to let anybody who is interested know that since the latest update (1.8.186), VO is now working on the HTC Desire HD phone (on mine at least). I am not running Chainfire or the like, Android version is 2.3.3 and the phone is unbranded.
Previously the game would not get past the initial loading progress bar without looping back to the version check screen.
I'm not sure how usable the game is on this phone (4.3" screen) but might be OK for some simple trading if killing some time? There are a few small issues but seeing as this phone isn't supported they aren't a major problem.

As a Snapdragon / Adreno device, that should work fine.. barring memory constraint issues, which are still a possibility. If you were getting all the way to the "Vendetta Online" game load screen, I'm not sure what was happening previously.
Phones such as this may become supported in the not-too-distant future, and while there are certainly some areas of the interface that could be improved, we'd still appreciate feedback on how it works (the "few small issues" you mention).

Thanks for your reply. It is quite amazing how cross platform this game is.
There is a small issue after turning the condensed UI off (I assume the default for this phone should be 'on'). As I needed to use the Ship & PDA tabs I turned off the condensed UI. The tabs appeared, as well as the chat box, but the bottom of the screen is now clipped off just beneath the 'Set Home' button. This hid the 'Buy' buttons etc. making the whole process mute.
I restarted the game but the same clipping occurs from the start with the character page having the 'Play' button hidden etc. Not sure if this is relevant but the 'Reset FOV and Hud Size' option in Video Options is ticked. After re-ticking condensed UI the clipping disappears and all the bottom buttons are visible again.
The actual in-space controls work surprisingly well for such a small screen although I don't think I'll try any combat!

The condensed UI is created specifically to solve these problems. You can still access the Ship & PDA tabs, you simply have to press the Android "Menu" button. It actually describes this in the initial tutorial, but for existing Android users who have been testing older non-phone-compatible builds, you wouldn't be forced to see that.
Give the condensed UI a shot, I recommend it.

Sooooo what about the HTC inspire? Isn't it newer than the desire but I don't see it supported. Will this change in the up coming future?
You're welcome to try the sideload build linked from the sticky. The game is currently excluded on the Market from anything other than SonyEricsson Xperia PLAY phones, as we have a limited-duration exclusivity deal with them. After that finishes, you should see the game become available on the Market for your HTC Inspire (as well as my Atrix 4G and many other phones).
On a sidenote, the "newness" of phones is not a very good indicator of performance. Different carriers order differently branded things from various OEMs at various times, and it's all kind of chaotic. If you want to know how well your phone will play games, look at the CPU/GPU and RAM. For Snapdragon, we recommend the "Adreno 220", which is in a variety of chips visible here. The "Adreno 205" (present in the above "Inspire" and "Desire HD", as well as the Xperia PLAY) will run the game reasonably well, but be a little slow from time to time. We also recommend at least 512MB of RAM, preferably 1GB.
