No audio driver, Galaxy Tab 10.1

Aug 19, 2011 SoupAssassin link
I'd like to play this game, but I have no sound. I go to the audio section in the options and it lists no audio driver, nor can I select one. And when I try to hit apply, I get this message....

vo/if_options.lua:64:bad argument #1 to 'ipairs' (table expected, got nil)
stack traceback:
vo/error.lua:59:in function <vo/error.lua:58>
[C]: in function 'ipairs'
vo/if_options.lua:64: in function 'set options'
vo/if_options.lua:175: in function <vo/if_options.lua:172>
(tail call): ?

I'd like to play the game, but it's kind of pointless with no audio at all. Stock Galaxy Tab 10.1, WiFi only; just got it a week ago. Haven't installed the TouchWiz UX update, so using the standard Honeycomb 3.1 that came on the tab. Not rooted, either. Using the latest version of the game from the marketplace, and have tried uninstalling (plus deleting SD data) and re-installing and re-downloading the game data. Have no audio problems with any other apps or games.

Figured I would give a chance to try and troubleshoot before uninstalling and leaving a negative review.

*EDIT*
Upon further inspection, it appears my config file has left the "Audio Driver" part blank. It lists the standard OpenES for graphics, so I am wondering if I insert the standard Audio driver if it will correct the problem. I do not know what the standard audio driver for the Tegra 2 is however - so if anyone could fill me in I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the report. We recently released a major update that changes certain devices (like yours) to use "Native" audio instead of "Java" audio, for performance benefit. But there may be some edge cases we need to fix. Please check back here for suggestions or updates.

In the meantime, you can try using ES File Explorer or some such to delete config.ini and wgaf.cfg and re-run, and see what happens. Unfortunately, we don't have a Galaxy 10.1 for testing, but as far as audio there shouldn't be any significant difference vs the Xoom or other tablets. We'll see what we can do..

Tried to delete my config.ini and wgaf.cfg.......no avail.....

=(

If you could do me a favor, what is the name that comes up for the audio driver with say, the Xoom. You are correct in that it should be the same, but I do know that Samsung made a few minor changes to Honeycomb 3.1 with their Tab; the software isn't exactly the same. I do not see how any of the changes should be affecting anything however, so if it's working fine on the Xoom than this is confusing to me as well. If you think it perhaps could work, I would like to try and just plug the driver name into the Config file - it may well succeed. As I said however, I do not know the name of the driver - so if you have a Xoom handy and could post the name of the audio driver listed in the config I would be more than willing to give it a shot.

In the meantime, you guys have a couple of things on your To-Do list: A. Buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (you should anyway!), and B. Test the differences in Samsung's version of 3.1 to correct any issues.

Since you guys are going to native API's as you said, I would imagine that this will of course crop up some device specific issues.

I just really want to fully enjoy my trial. I am looking for good MMO on Android, and this game looks to be my solution - but I have to be able to play it properly first. :)

Here is something you can try.
In the /sdcard/VendettaOnline/drivers folder, there should be a libvoaudionative.so file. If there isn't, then copy or rename libvoaudio.so to libvoaudionative.so and try again.

If that still doesn't work, what .log files are generated? Can you post all the .log files that are created in the /sdcard/VendettaOnline/ folder? Mainly I'm looking for errors.log and audio.log.

If the libvoaudionative.so file already exists, then the log files will help track down the problem.

I am having the same issue with my Galaxy 10.1. Checked the /sdcard/VendettaOnline/drivers folder. libvendettanative.so and libvoaudio.so are both present. I can post log files if anyone is going to follow up.

If you can, look for a file in /sdcard/VendettaOnline/ called audio.log and post the contents of that.

That should give additional info as to why sound is not working.

If there is no audio.log file, then logcat could show more info.
There are android apps that can display the logcat of your device such as aLogcat.
