device not supported
Hi
I have an advent Vega running android 2.2 on the nvidia chipset, so I believe go should work.
However when I try to install the client it tells me that my device is not compatible.
I don't supposed anyone could. Shed some life on this could they?
Thank you!

What are the exact words that tell you that the device is not compatible? We specify that the OS needs to be at least Android 2.3, but otherwise, we only warn the user, not prevent the user from playing.
It says "this item is not compatible with your device".
I go to the download page for android on this site, download client -> android, then tap on the £0.61 button and it opens up a Google market screen. It ask which device to install to on that screen and I select my device (listed as "Nvidia Vega", then I get that message.
Ohhh and on the downlload page it say the minimum os is android 2.2 :-)

If anyone could help me with this I would be really gratefull, I'd love to get this working on my tablet.
It works on the PC ok but I only really subscribed as I would be able to play it on my Vega.
Thank you.
EDIT -> Actually just had a thought.. is there any way you could just host the .apk file for the client, or provide me with a download link? That would get around this problem.
Apparently I'm not the only person this has happened to, its a well known 'feature' with the android market and quite common, with no known fix nor any sign google have even acknowleged the issue :-(
EDIT 2 -> I've now tried several differnet ROMS and a friend of mine with a Point Of View Tegra 2 tablet (also running android 2.2) has also had exactly the same problem.
Has anyone at all managed to get VO up and running on an android tablet yet? if so what tablet have you got and what version of Android is it running?
Thanks,
Lythos

Ok, I was mistaken about the Android 2.3 requirement. We also have a screen size minimum requirement that could be preventing you from getting the game from the Android Market. We'll see what we can do about changing the minimum requirements.
Thank you!!
There are quite a lot of Tegra tablets it seems running android 2.2 atm and almost none running 2.3.
Looks like most are waiting for android 3.0 which should start to filter through to users sometime in ApriL....

Unfortunately, the "xlarge" Market-filter tag we use to require tablets 7-inches-or-larger is a Gingerbread (2.3) addition. Because of that, we have the option of either showing up on devices that are too small (Dell Streak 5) or effectively requiring Gingerbread. We'll be re-visiting our options in the near future, and may have a solution next week.
Ok, thanks for trying :-)
The Advent Vega, Viewsonic G-tablet and Point Of View Mobii (There are others, but these seem to be the strongest contenders atm) are all 10+" tablets with Nvidia Tegra 2 chipsets and they are all running Android 2.2.
Literallly ten's of thousands of these things have been sold all accross Europe in just the few weeks that they have been available. The Advent Vega in particular, which is being sold retail through PC World, Curry's and Dixon's has been selling out in minutes whenever stock has come in.
They will hopefully all get Android 3.0 in April sometime so if you can't do Android 2.2 then I guess its not really a big problem.
However you probably want to change the download page, it currently lists the minimum Android version as 2.2... this will just cause frustration, anoyance and negative feelings for anyone with one of these tablets that wants to install Vendetta online.

I appreciate the issue, and that a lot of people with these new devices want to try the game. Like I said, we'll try and work around it this coming week.
I have just managed to get android 2.3 up and running, but I still can't install the client.
Is there any way you can just host the .apk file for people to download?

In response to an earlier post on this thread:
I've got the xoom and the back end is incredible. The front end needs a little more innovation to accomodate some keystrokes you can't get by without (secondry weapon firing, etc) that really have me pulling my hair out. I subscribed to VO after playing it on my xoom. My clunker of a laptop isn't fit for anything but email.

Its nice to know how good this is on an android tablet, I was on the point of giving up trying to get it working. I'll persist for a little longer.
Still, the xoom is an android 3.0 tablet and so far the only people I have heard of that have got this working on an Android tablet are people with Android 3.0 and a xoom.
It doesn't look like it will work on anything earlier than 3.0 at the moment :-(

I would say that is probably accurate. As I understand it, its more an issue of chipsets than anything elsE. Can u verify that your device is supported?
