I take it the linux installer is still ultra dodgy, as I have tried to install it on my laptop and had to re-run the installer 5-6 times to get all the files downloaded. Mostly got LUA errors, but had a seg fault thrown in too...

was just about to open a new threat stating the very same problem. getting files is interrupted by messages such as:

$ vendetta
*** Lua error: [string "..."]:19: download progress for unexpected ref#!

Segmentation fault

keeping on restarting the installer does the trick though. the first time i ever "solved" a segfault by restarting the app :-)

Yeah, I kept getting segfaults like that. I retried about 5 times and the installer seems to have just worked now.

Odd. It works just fine for me.

There's a new updater version now... See if this problem still persists.

All it does for me is bring up the screen saying requesting latest version and then sits there.

Any ideas?
