I'm thinking to buy a USB joystick or joypad, but I really don't know which is the actual status of Linux and Vendetta support for them and I can't find something useful on Google...

About joysticks, I'm considering Saitek Cyborg Evo and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro: some experiences about them? Other recommendations (no Microsoft products, please)?

Finally, which is better: joystick or joypad? I'm used to PSX controller and I like it, but I never played space games like Vendetta on the PSX, so I don't know if it can be a better alternative than keybord+mouse. On the other side, joysticks seem to me to be a bit too specialized devices...

I prefer joystick. I have a Logitech Force Feedback 3d and it works great for me... Use the iforce module in the kernel for it.
