alsa question?
I use alsa. Just make sure you have the ALSA-OSS package. Here's instructions:
For 2.6 series kernel- Select "OSS Emulation" in the ALSA Section of Sound (in menuconfig)
For gentoo (non 2.6 kernel)- emerge alsa-oss
For redhat/mandrake/suse- Search rpmfind.net for alsa-oss
Um... I'm not sure about debian, slack or LFS.
