I have the same problem on a regular basis. I can ping or traceroute to the server: no problem. But I stuck at the dreaded "Connecting..." screen and end up with a time out.

This varies with time though: when I can connect, I get connected immediatly. But when I can't connect, (like for the past 2 hours) retrying doesn't help at all.

Is there a problem? I have not been able to connect for the past 48 hours.

No problems that I know of.
Try pinging the server: majikthise.guildsoftware.com
or tracerouting to see if there is a downed link.

I cannot connect to server, it times out

The same old fix applys for me, just cancel and connect again and be quick smart about it =)

I tracerouted and got 139s no worries

I have found my problem
I had the fire wall on high
I turned it off
Logged on - it worked
Logged off
turned the firewall to medium
Logged on - it worked
Now I gotta learn how to play this thing - be gentle with me
