Look at that piece of sky at the bottom right corner. It always shows up when I fly near asteroids and only at that corner, nowhere else.
System linux 2.4.21, GForge4 MX 440SE, XFree4.2.1.1, nvidia drivers 1.0.4496-3
Anybody know why does this happen?

Are you running a framebuffer?
vesafb is built into kernel, console uses it. What is wrong about it?
I get a similar thing with backgrounds sometimes
I know other players are using 4496 drivers with good results. Are people using 4496-3 ?
Whoohoo!
I recognize that! I used to get that on piles and piles and everything I ever ran with 3d in it! :)
All it means is..
One, you really need to upgrade to XFree 4.3
And 2, you'll have to re-install your drivers. As they somehow installed improperly. Perhaps they have a command to custom compile them? Like suse always custom compiles automatically...
