Arch Linux Crashes On Load
When launching the amd64 bit Vendetta. It starts to load then crashes to the desktop and the desktop is set to 800x600.
I tried running from commandline to see if any errors came up with no luck.
I also tried setting the xres and yres in the config.ini file to my monitors resolution.
I am using the open source nvidia driver so I don't know if that is what is causing the issue or not.
Thanks,
My Current Config

Check the errors.log file, it might say something useful.
Enabling windowed mode in the config file might at least stop it from resetting your res while you're testing things.

Here is what the error log says any thoughts?

Dunno if nouveau is up to snuff for this sort of thing yet, but i'm willing to bet it's a video driver thing.
Make sure you have libtxc_dxtn installed. Also check ~/.vendetta/openglerr.log and openglinfo.log - They might have other hints too.
Also, If you're running the 32-bit VO client on 64-bit ArchLinux, make sure you have the lib32-* packages for your video driver and DRI installed. Or... just install the 64-bit client and not worry about that crap. :)

ALSO! If you want to use xres and yres, you have to set xf86vidmode=0
I'd be willing to bet it's because of open source video driver. They almost always suck for any 3D gaming.
You're kidding right? I use the open source Radeon drivers (r600g) and get 85fps @ 1280x960 with 8xMSAA and all the texture settings cranked.
Nouveau (for nvidia cards) is a lot better than it used to be, but it still needs a lot of work.

Agreed Nouveau is a lot better... runs good other than some shading issues. I went lazy mode
and blacklisted Nouveau module and installed Nvidia's 304.88 driver on:
Vector 7
Amd X2 2.3Ghz 3GB
GF 210 1GB
Running full out and get 60fps really no issues that i can detect.... but since this is a new install I
have not fine tuned everything as well I need to recompile the kern and thin out all the junk I don't need. But it out performs my windows 7 install hands down...
It has come a long way since 2005 when i was squeezing every MB of memory i could out of the
system to play VO lol
Slackware 10.2
P4 D 3Ghz 768MB
GF 5200 256MB
Have not played with the DRI in a while since i ran FreeBsd but even back then
the drivers where making large jumps forward.. but this was pre Vo and in my Bzflag days :)
