Ubuntu top-bar in the way
I have the game running mostly well, only problem is that when in fullscreen, the topbar stays in place, blocking some of the chat channel buttons. Any suggestions? running ubuntu 12.04
topbar? Is that the combination menu thing Unity has?
Can't you just right click on the bar, select properties and then check Autohide? (that's how it used to work prior to all this Unity stuff.)
Topbar is the one that has >file >edit >view etc. It runs across the top of the screen and has the battery and volume icons, clock and all that other good stuff in the top right corner.
I haven't found any autohide option for it, I did for the unity bar along the side, but nothing for the one across the top.
If I run fullscreen mode in any other program, the topbar automatically is hidden, so I wonder if VO isn't booting into an actual fullscreen mode... maybe just maximized?

Check and see if it says fullscreen on the video settings page. You can also use the 'alt-enter' hotkey to switch between windowed and fullscreen VO.
I'm having this exact same issue with Ubuntu 12.04 and Unity. Event hough it's set in "fullscreen", the topbar is still present as is the launcher bar (autohide gets it out of the way, but it's still there and will pop out with the cursor on the left edge of the screen). To temporarily work around it, I ended up running VO in a window that was small enough that the top bar and launcher didn't overlap.
Thought I had but didn't get around to trying is running VO under Gnome Shell instead of Unity.

I dropped Ubuntu with Unity and went to Mint with the XCFE manager. Same Ubuntu goodness, different window manager. Still using Ubuntu One as the cloud storage and file backup.
