Amd64 Nvidia 195 segmenation fault
Hi,
I'm getting segmentation faults at random using the Nvidia 195 driver with Linux Mint 9 x64 ( derivative of ubuntu 10.04 x64)
- mostly I can't even get into the game / station.
When using the 173 it works fine however I cannot do proper full hd h264 playback
Do anyone have an Idea where I should start?

I don't have an nvidia card but this is what I can come up with.
Try the 256 beta drivers.
Try playing in window mode if you aren't already.
Desktop effects can sometimes get in the way.
Check if other games have similar issues and if so file a bug report with nvidia.

Thanks
Window mode still has the same problem
also disabling compiz does not help
I Hav'nt tried 256 yet, however there seem to be some bugfix from the 195 I have: (released today)
" Fixed a problem with SLI SFR, AFR, and SLIAA modes with GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 and high-resolution display modes. "
I have a Quarto though
Anyway I also found a similar behavior with torcs

I managed to get 256 running but the same problem persists
Lucily the new ubuntu (and Mint) allows you to switch drivers easily

yeah.. that's nice. Too bad that it didn't help.
Try to download directly from nvidia.com and install that driver instead of distro-packaged ones.
But remove all *nvidia* packages before.

I ran into the same problem with VO crashing randomly (had to use the 173 drivers to get around it). I just now followed the instructions on the following link to use the 260 drivers and that fixed it up for me (so far). I've only tried it in Windowed mode, but so far, so good. No ill side-effects noted yet.
