Linux NVidia 4496 driver released 28/7
Heh - did any1 notice that nvidia have updated their linux driver =)
Just a quick note:
I lost 20% of my OpenGL performance with 4496. This was just enough to cause some light, intermittent stuttering in Vendetta.
Switching back to 4363 straightened me right out again.

lol - i really hate when drivers do that =/
I haven't had any problems with it yet.
It neither boosted nor bumped my fps, but
it seems slightly more stable on my Gf2
32M on rh9 =)

I'm sticking to 4363 until this new one is benchmarked by someone official.
i can only say that my fps hasn't changed either since updating to the newest nvidia drivers (for my Geforce4 MX 440-SE). i have no idea how my card would fare if i was running vendetta with directX, but for that i would have to buy/install a copy of windows, and that will never happen :) Gentoo Linux will forever be my OS ;)
EDIT: aww, im going to have to go back to a bit older nvidia drivers, since the drivers leave the consoles scrambled when changing with CTRL-ALT+Fx; however, this won't happen with newest kernel (2.6-test2), only with older kernels.

As i said, i never have had problems with it - just notifying those interested.
There have been alot of problems with NVidia drivers and the update maybe could help some out...

lol, sorry, when i meant console, i meant an actual linux console, not vendetta's console (if it even has one?) vendetta runs perfectly as a matter of fact with the new nvidia drivers :)
Psssst.... Linux forum.

lol...
/me were quite "beside" himself when posting this =}
(i know you were talking about a normal linux console - not vendetta's ;)

I'd like people to test the 4496 drivers so we can get back to NVidia on them. The doshaders=0 and dovertexbuffers=0 in your config.ini should no longer be necessary, and removing them should result in a framerate boost. If they still crash or are less stable, it'd be nice to figure out why.
A DEV!!! ALL HAIL!!!
It works perfectly (on my MX200) with do doshaders=1 and dovertexbuffers=1 - and with a boost too =)
Installing now... Please note that I have none of the extra lines in my config file, not a one. Come to think of it, I've never edited it. *shrug*. I'll give you a report once I get it working.
