IPTABLES is not designed to run on a general use box, nor on a single NIC box. It is meant more as a server/router function.
If you were running IPTABLES on another box in front of the one you wish to play Vendetta on then just masquerading and enabling port forwarding would allow you to play Vendetta since your box is generating all of the initial connectivity requests via the firewall box.
There are ways to make it work on a stand-alone box but it's pretty tweaky and violates several security recommendations.
I would either use another PC as my firewall with IPTABLES or use a firewall appliance, or both.

I run iptables and I never had any problems with vendetta.
Check your config. download gShield.
and btw, all this talk of iptables not being designed for general use box. pfft, what a crock of droppings. iptables IS the linux firewall. you don't suggest people should run their boxen unprotected, are you?

randomize, i think hes saying that if you run boxes, you should have a dedicated iptables firewall behind which you keep yer stuff, not have an all-in-one jobber.
Well, some of us can't afford to have a different computer for every menial task under the sun, can we?
It's not a tasking issue nor cost issue. It's a security issue.
When I play vendetta while my security check is running
I get this report:
* Changes (+: new entries, -: removed entries):
+ vendetta birre UDP *:21584
So in my case vendetta listen on port 21584 udp.
/Birre
