Radeon 9000 (M9) Question
Anyone here use the Radeon Mobility 9000 card? I just got a new laptop with that chip and was wondering what the ideal drivers and settings (XF86Config) are for it. There seems to be several competing sets of drivers (or modules) and I'm not sure what is best for 3D
What version of linux are you using?
Well, now that ATI discontinued their support for Linux Radeon products, it'll be a bit harder. The drivers are still there, as the FireGL product for some professional graphics design chip, but the pretty conf script is I believe gone. What u want is the proprietary ATI FireGL drivers. Anything else is WAY too slow for Vendetta. Lotsa people use the 9xxx series, and someone must have the right settings.
Its redhat 9, but that doesn't matter. Its X 4.3. uhh 0 i guess. I believe I'm using the latest radeon DRM and stuff (it was in my laptop patch), so i might be ok.
The std redhat drm is the low one I believe. Go get some propriatary stuff. Yay for closed-source gfx hardware on an open-source system.
believe me, this isn't standard redhat anymore. kernel is totally custom. i'll look into the X driver though. thats still standard.
