Joystick Trials and tribulations
Hi,
I'm attempting to set up a Cyborg 3D gold to use with VO on a linux system. I've read through the excellent post on the calibration routine about a hundred times now, however....
When calibrating any axis the red line in the raw window does not move at all. From my reading of the calibration procedure I'm assuming it should and I'm deducing that this is why my calibration fails so dismally. I cannot set the centre or the range of movement correctly let alone the dead zone ect.
Has anyone else encountered this? Plenty of people seem to be using the cyborg 3d gold so I must assume I'm just being a bit thick and missing something here.

I recently got a Logitech 3D Extreme, and had the same problem. I rebooted, and that fixed it. I had also tweaked the kernel to switch some joystick options on before the reboot, so that may have been the real fix, though it was detected fine, and calibration worked perfectly in the joystick test program (part of the games-util/joystick package in Gentoo) before the reboot.
Do you have the joystick options compiled into the kernel?

Yeah, you should use jscal.
