It seems like you alreade have a /compat/linux installed.

Check if you have any files in that directory. If not then do a
'make deinstall' and then do 'make reinstall' as the program says.

Yeah, I have 13 folders in my /compat/linux directory. So my Linux compatibility should be working, right?

Yes it should, perhaps you could try to execute some of the programs under that directory.

As stated earlier, you probably have to set up your library paths(LD_LIBRARY_PATH) so that vo uses the linux libs, and not the freebsd ones.

OK! I got it to work. The linux-pango port never installed properly. I reinstalled that and now everything runs beautifully! Now I can finally get back to playing.

Thanks to trocade, mr_spuck, and Syylk for all of your help and patience.

Congratulations, FatStrat. Happy to see you made it!

Write down a line or two in the wiki, so the next BSD'er will have a starting point.

Hmmm... I'm not sure if my instructions would be sufficient. I barely got it to work myself. I'd be willing to write something though. Maybe some more experienced users could edit and correct it.

I'm not sure where I'd put it though. Can you add an entire page to the wiki? I've never edited or added anything to a wiki before. I'd imagine there should be a page called "installing VO on alternative OS's" or something. Then there could be a section on FreeBSD. I wonder if anyone has gotten it to work on anything else.

Actually, what you need to do is add links on howto set up linux compatbility for example the one I linked to.

And then verify that version 1.7.15 works. Nothing more.

A 2 page long article describing what someone else already descrideb is not needed.
