Joystick suggestions...

Mar 10, 2006 Swithun link
I've been thinking about getting a joystick as playing with a touchpad can be a bit challenging at times... However, despite working with Linux for over 12 years, I have never tried to configure a joystick. Which ones work well with Linux (I'm running Fedora Core 4 FWIW) and Vendetta?

++thanks

I use two logitech sticks. The Attack3 and the Extreme 3D Pro, they are both USB and work great with gentoo linux. If you need setup help post the problem and I'll see about what I can do for an answer.

Edit: As far as I know all usb stick should work with linux with the basic joystick drivers

I don't know if it's too late to stick my two cents worth in here...

Take a look at the Saitek Cyborg Evo. It was recommended to me when I first started playing Vendetta over a year ago and I've found it to be fantastic! I've configured it for my left hand (I'm right handed) and have all the flight controls and targeting controls within reach of my thumb....leaving my right hand on Logitech Trackman for aiming and shooting.

How did you configure the saitek? I'm using something called jscalibrator, but nothing seems to work in game...

Try jscal instead. May be a little hard to find though.

jscal worked wonders. Now I just need to mess with it a little more to establish a small dead zone, but thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I bought a cheap USB gamepad. Trouble is it's far too sensitive for the game, which makes combat really difficult. Is it possible to reduce the sensitivity somehow?

I noticed a whole load of joystick options in ~/.vendetta/config.ini but if I change them manually, the game just changes them back.
