Native Client vs Mac Store

Jul 25, 2019 dalton224 link
I have been trying out the game with both the native client downloaded from the website and the one available on the Mac App Store.

The Mac App Store one has much worse performance and creates a large input lag when in station looking at the station interface. When moving the mouse around you see the second "Mac" mouse floating behind it trying to keep up and this causes a very slow movement of the mouse to interact with anything. (when in options menu the mouse speed goes back to fast and responsive and no second cursor lagging behind.)

Mac App Store client also appears to be getting 10-15 less FPS when flying around even on same or lower settings. Not sure if MacOS treats applications download from the store differently but the performance between the two is very different and makes it hard to play. I will continue to test between the two and update it when I can.

Website client does not have mouse dragging issue but fps is roughly 5fps better at even higher settings. With both clients the minning laser creates large amount of input lag when its visible on screen and trying to navigate he menus. When hitting escape to go to options menu the performance on both shoot way up and mouse speed feels like normal desktop speed and Input speed.

Why do current missions from Mac not carry over to iPhone?

"current" missions do not carry over, almost ever, because almost all missions are considered aborted or inturrupted when you log out to switch clients. As for your mission log, thats stored as a local file, so you could actually make that carry over by using the itunes application file managing stuff [see the iOS forums, plugins installation insturctions for more about that], but its a lot of work with little payoff.

as for why the store and web clients seem different, I have no clue. given the game updates itself, I don't see why it should matter, but maybe the devs would know more about it than I do.

Which video driver is each one using? The store version may be using the OpenGL 4 version whereas the website client may be using the Open GL Reference driver.
