MacBook Pro gets really hot
I am not putting this in bugs because I have not really tested it
I have the new MacBook Pro with 16 gigs memory and the 8th generation intel I core 7. To take advantage of the Christmas special I downloaded vendetta from the App Store. Logged in and very quickly my Mac got very hot fans on full. It ran fine but I did not have all my plug ins etc. so I opened a back up from my Mac mini restored a version from nov 2017 which had all plug ins. . Updated every thing. It ran totally cool. Did not even get a little warm. So I made a copy set both to run in windows put one on my external monitor. Ran Totally cool. They were not set for retina graphics.

You can always try lowering the game's multiple settings from the options menu, and by lowering them hopefully you should be able to lower the operating temperature. Do you know what part of your device was running hot?
One good bit of advice is to use the frame limiter. If you have a 60Hz, or higher screen, the default limit of 200 FPS is wasteful. Set it to around your screens vsync rate, and even if you use vsync, the temps should be slightly lower (which might give your mac more of a chance to stay at manageable temps).
They do run hot when doing any kind of stressful work, the cooling solution Apple used isn't the best for the newer i7's, especially when gaming. Even stuff like Half Life 2 will get them hot.
