Perhaps Apple doesn't want to provide a multi-button mouse because it would hurt Kenginston and the others. They don't want to discourage people from making accessories.

Competition is always nice. You don't see MacAlly or Kensington dropping outta the radar just because Logitech releases a new multi-button mouse. Apple also released a wireless keyboard at the Paris expo. There are plenty of wireless keyboards out there that can still be purchased by companies like Logitech. And besides, if Apple is going to release a multi-button wireless mouse, chances are it'll be around a $40-$50 price range. Other companies will simply keep the prices low to compete with that.

On another note, my 12" PowerBook is in York right now on a delivery van. Woohoo!! I can't wait until I get outta classes today. Vendetta r_glow=1 here I come!

For some reason rglow doesn't work for me. I guess it doesn't apply to the nVidia GeForce FX Go5200. At first s9 was unplayable... but then someone kindly pointed out that I had to turn the shaders off. That did the job. My radar appeared all blurred and pixelated though. nVidia bug?

PS: I probably won't be around for a couple of weeks (again). My 12" PowerBook turned out to be defective. A replacement is being sent. It was fun while it lasted though. Love the new station.

When doshaders=0 you don't get glow.
If the radar is pixelated/blurred it would be a nvidia bug. I haven't seen it on the ati cards (on the mac) here.

I tried rglow before I turned shaders off though, since it was on by default. Still didn't work. Then I tried that "gatten" thing and that didn't change anything either. Do I have to restart Vendetta to see the changes? Anyway... it's not a big deal.

I also think something needs to be done with the skybox textures. They really bog down performance a lot. I also noticed that when you zoom ("i" key) in on the backgrounds, you also zoom in on the skybox texture also. This makes the texture look and blurry and fake. If there was maybe some way to compensate that distance it would look better.

I like to play with backgrounds off, and I hope that you'll give everyone the option to do that in the final version also. One thing I wouldn't mind seeing though is Homeworld style backgrounds that are very simplified and atmospheric, yet beautiful.

That would be a good idea. Don't let the skyboxes zoom, but just the immediate sector objects.
