That sometimes happens to me too.
I found out that canceling connect and re-logging again helps.

Bojan thanks for the advice i logged in and waited a while then hit cancel and tried re-logging in but that didn't seem to work either
Sounds like it could be a firewall problem. Make sure port 21141 is open.
I went to my system prefrences clicked the firewall tab and changed the firewall so it would allow all incoming connections from vendetta but i still cannot login
OK if it is a firewall related problem you should probably read this:
The Vendetta Updater, the auto-update program that executes prior to game startup, makes an outbound connection to TCP port 21024. Once updating has completed and the game itself is fired up, a connection is established upon login attempt to UDP port 21141. Thus, any modern firewall capable of "keeping state" on outbound TCP/UDP should require no alterations. Other firewalls and packet filter implementations may require specific configuration changes. Both the updater and game work fine through Network Address Translation.
Soi, if you want to keep using firewall and playing vendetta at the same time, you will need to define UDP and TCP open ports necessary for vendetta client to communicate with the server.

Not sure this is the same problem, but for an hour or so I've been getting stuck at the "entering the universe" screen, after loging on with name and password and accepting the EULA. Checking on the web side shows 15 or 20 people online, so I'm puzzled as to where the glitch is.
Checking further I find that I can successfully enter the game using either of the other two nation players I created when I started. Since I haven't played either of them, I am more than a little reluctant to accept that my Itani play is trashed. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it back?
David Flory's problem has been fixed.
I have also been having this problem for the last two days. After minutes of "Connecting", Vendetta says "Server Connection Timed Out". I've never had this problem before and have made no changes to my operating system.
I have same problem and my firewall is stopped.
Edit:
I rebooted and turned off both Little Snitch filtering and also Peer Guardian filters. It worked.
