I was getting a bit frustrated when I found out I couldn't tab out of the game, wouldnt it be possible for you guys to make a keybind that minimized the game? As a feature?

You can play either in full screen or in a window.
Way out of full screen is to press esc key, open video settings and check window.

The main reason why is because in full screen mode your computer does not load a significant number of memory hungry system programs and processes thus making your gameplay smoother.

Oddly enough, on Leopard (Intel computers), VO is faster in windowed mode, by a few fps.

nothing odd about it, tosh, Simply put, Mac OS X uses OpenGL at all times, thus there is no extra overhead to run an opengl program in windowed mode, since the OpenGL is still running fullscreen, technically..

Once you realize that, the increase in fps becomes pretty self-evident, since there's a smaller area for the OpenGL renderer, to, well.. render.

Still the question stands how do we tab out to the desktop easy?

I want to check the VO Wiki and some other browser things in a while.

Once you're in windowed mode, cmd-tab-out should work. Or you can move your mouse to the upper edge of the screen (assuming you're playing at a resolution not much smaller than your screen's, otherwise you can just move it off the window and click).

that doesn't work unless your in the pda screen or in station, if you try to move the mouse off the screen while flying you'll just move your ship. Anytime you have a cursor on the screen however, you can just simply move the mouse off the screen (i find it doesn't always stay persistent unless you move it to the dock first however)

If you hit 't', you can move your mouse without changing your ship's orientation. Granted, you then have an open chat line.
