Some advice/info needed
Yea it happened. My old G4 powerbook got replaced by a new generation iMac.
Yesterday I have seen VO like never before. Everything on high res. and with shaders on.
No lag even in the biggest hive sectors, average fps around 200 constantly.
There was only one strange thing. I usually use a firewall (Little Snitch) but for playing VO i have to turn it off.
If I log out after disabling firewall and log back in and then start VO, i get an average of 200 fps. If I start VO without logging out/in i get constant 60 fps. Visually and game wise there is no difference. I get no lag or big fps jumps, it just stays at 60 fps.
Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Are you sure you aren't disabling/enabling vsync ingame?
That was the first thing I suspected, but no.
I always play with VSync off and rglow off.

You should not have to turn off LittleSnitch to play VO, I know I don't.
Other than that, I couldn't say what the problem is. I'll try to reproduce it on my MacBook, but seeing they're not alike, there won't be much conclusive stuff, I reckon.
Also, my condolences. My old G4 Powerbook is still awaiting resurrection by fan and hinge exchange.

Ok, i found some info on setting LittleSnitch UDP and TCP ports rules so i can now play without shutting it down.
And now for the funny part, i tried to start playing without logging out and back in and this time my fps was normal from 200-400.I did only 1 thing different then the previous time - I shut down Linotype Font Explorer which i use to manage fonts.
I will see if that fps problem comes up again in the next few days... dreaded Murphy never sleeps.

That is... interesting.
NOW We know why Bojan's back.. he got a new compy! Yays!
Double win!
On a Mac, a font program could be using up a lot of texture memory, or otherwise utilizing the graphics hardware. Dunno if that's the case here or not. Also, playing full-screen can have a major impact (no OS with hardware-accelerated Aqua to keep in video memory).
Thanks Incarnate.
All seems to be fine so far with Linotype Font Explorer X turned down.
I played last 4 days at pretty high settings for my previous standards.
Full screen at 1920x1200, with all settings on highest except vsync and rglow set to off.
My fps is pretty stable ranging from 300 average to 150 in extremely busy sectors like HS, NW etc.
