still surprised .
Even after all these years apple still manages to impress me with the attention to detail embodied in both software and hardware design. I now have two imacs in the same room, so I found that the remote operated both similtaneously. So I just clicked apple help and asked, and lo, apple had got there before me;
" If you have more than one computer with built-in Infrared (IR) receivers in the same room, you’ll probably want to “pair” each computer with a specific Apple Remote. Pairing sets the computer to take commands only from the specified remote. You can pair your computer with only one remote at a time.
You must be logged in to an administrator account to pair your computer.
To pair an Apple Remote with your computer:
Hold the remote close to the computer (3 to 4 inches away) and point the remote at the front of the computer.
Press and hold both the Menu and Next buttons on the remote until the paired-remote graphic appears on your screen (about 5 seconds).
To remove the pairing, open System Preferences, click Security, and click the Unpair button. Your computer will now take commands from any remote.
To prevent your computer from being controlled by any remote, select “Disable remote control infrared receiver” in the Security preferences pane."
This has nothing to do with vo really, just one of those great mac moments .....
