Intel MacBook Pro... To Bootcamp or Not to Bootcamp

Dec 01, 2007 Snax_28 link
So I'm just about to drop in again... but I'm wondering:

I've noticed quite a few changes to the game, updates and whatnot. Anyone here have any experience with running the game in Windows? I would be runnin it under XP. Am I gonna get better performance under Leopard or under Bootcamp?

If you have one of the MacBook Pros with the ATI x1600 card, my guess is that you would get better performance under XP than under Leopard -- that's the computer I have and VO runs like shit under the same settings I used in Tiger (aka, completely maxed out and still running smooth as silk). Ray's fixes in this thread help my framerate issues, but there are still a few bugs (the old octree bug, for example, which I never experienced firsthand until the upgrade to Leopard).

Running VO under XP doesn't have these issues. Only problem I have with running it under XP is that I can't bypass the updater when I don't need to update the client :(

Not sure about all my specs, but I've found that in window mode doing other stuff it's nicer on Mac, but if you're going full screen pumped graphics Windows looks a tad better. It still runs great with everything maxed under Mac, and I generally always run it out of mac because.... I just like mac better.

Yah, you can Mehairy, you can either copy vendetta.rlb and rename it to vendetta.exe (not really any good, cos come next update, you have to redo this step) or you can use some registry entries to run a .rlb as if it is a .exe. Here's an example http://vo-noobs.com/stuff/RunRLB.reg (right click and save as, or save link as) This file is tested and works with Windows XP only! But as with all reg tweaks, merging it with your system registry is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I've been using the second method for a while now, as media.rlb gets badly fragmented on my system, and the updater can take a whole minute to verify it >.>

I have the same MacBook and to me it looks all the same in Vista as in OS X.

I'm just trying it in Bootcamp and get all sorts of small glitches... nothing gamebreaking, but in OS X it runs smoother.

That's on a Mac Pro with x1900 graphics, using XP SP2

Laika? You're back in-game? I think I haven't seen you in years.

Hey toshi, long time no see!

Sorry for the delay, Idon't check these forums regulary.
Yes, I just payed for 3 months, but currently I'm out of town. But chances are good you can see me hanging around in B8 now and then during the next months. And I even saw a few familiar "faces".
Must've been at least 3 years since I last payed for a month...
Hope to see you ingame sometime.
