well no, but i dont want to pay an extra 50 bucks in a few months just cause of the stupid iphone.

I am guessing they will spread out the new products releases to make sure it fits into people's paychecks each month or at least the creditcard bill. I was disappointed about Leopard's delay, but I am looking forward to new iMacs specifically. Mine is the last iMac G5 (iSight) that came out. I heard the new ones will have very thin monitors.

The reason is because they took Leopard programmers off the OS and put them on the iPhone to get it out in time.

Confirmed, sort of. Apple's announcement that Leopard would be delayed until October said that they had to devote resources from the Mac OS X team to the iPhone software team. Given that OS X (the kernel and basic libraries, not the entire OS) is the same core for several different systems (Macs, Apple TV and iPhone), it is probably not quite as simple as it sounds. Especially given Brooks' Law: "Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later."

It sounds more like they knew a while ago that Leopard would be held up for whatever reason, and to the non-engineer layperson, the given explanation sounds plausible.

I would love to speculate that the added manpower is to bring the iPhone into compatibility with other services besides Cingular/AT&T.
