monitor issues

Apr 19, 2003 Fade link
I'm trying to play on my dads computer and hes got this 17' cornea LCD. When ever I try to load Vendetta it just shows a black screen and says that the signal is out of range or something like that. I'm guessing it has something to do with the resolution. is there anything i can do to fix this? I've messed around with the systems resolution but that hasn't fixed anything. I'm running osx 10.2.5. on a 400mhz g4.

There's a setting in the config.ini file called, um, darn, I forget.
Called def_freq.
editing your config.ini should show something like this:

[refgl]
def_freq=0

change the 0 to 60 and see if that helps.
Or in the [Vendetta] group in the config.ini try changing the resolutions.

The def_feq setting seems to have no rhyme or reason to it. It certainly does not take a verticval refresh rate as the parameter.
For some reason the game continually tries to set my monitors to 200hz, which my video card does, but neither of my 21" CRTs can handle that.
The ONLY settings that I've found that let me play Vendetta in non-windowed mode (really, the only way I can play) is to set the resolution to 720x480 and the def_freq=1. When that happens, my monitors claim they are in 1024x768 mode with an error, and the vertical refresh is 150hz.
But hey it works. But still, there need to be some "fail-safe" setup mode like 800x600x72hz, and a straightforward method of setting the vertical refresh rates.

Hmm, it is supposed to be the refresh rate.
0 means to use the default frequency for that resolution as defined my osx. I'll see if i'm doing it wrong though.

BTW: I may have one of the most complex setups, mainly that I am driving two 21" displays and have three video ports on the machine (one built-in, two on the Radeon card).
The game ALWAYS plays on the PCI Radeon, and I can't find any way to force it to play on the internal motherboard video. I've tried telling MacOS that the other (built-in) display is the main one, but Vendetta still starts up on the Radeon.
I'm guessing it's either because it detects a better OpenGL support, or there's just a lack of multiple display support.
Maybe I'll hook up a third display to the second port on the Radeon and see what happens.

Vendetta doesn't have good support for multimonitors yet.
It will search for the best video card and use that. Some day I will allow you to choose which display to output to.

Oh oh! Have one monitor be front view other back view!
Or i could build a sphere building and i could have a cockpit for vendetta in the middle, that would ROCK!!!!

Vednetta freaks out on my dual moniter setup so what I did is threw together a box, gave it some really crappy speakers I found in a abandoned dot-com site, and installed XP, it's now for IRC and teamtalk only. I love having spare parts lying around my house.
