directx open gl
i keep selecting directx insted of open gl. i have been doing things like del the config file in vendetta folder. i have been using the menu in vendetta options and i keep getting put in open gl. how do i force vendetta to use directx. i looked at the error reports. they say that i have directx installed and yet i am stuck in open gl. i did not select open gl. i did have to put another used monitor on my system. i have winxp. i have been playing for a week or two just fine. the reason for the new used monitor was the one i had was old and worn out. it died a good death.... help!
If it's switching from DirectX to OpenGL, there is probably something preventing it from using DirectX in the first place. IME performance under OGL is better on later cards anyway -- is there really a reason to use DX at all?

You can check the directx.log files. They should have error messages in them if there's a problem with using directx.
I use directX instead of openGl for my Geforce 6600 256. OpenGl cuts my frames by 20. Asteroids en masse cut the frames in half and asteroids + station cut them down 1/3rd more to 28 frames. Doesn't matter if I have antalaising on 4x and glow effects. That doesn't effect it.
(Don't know why I can't put the settings up the whole way with my card tho...)

Do you have the proper drivers and settings for your "new" monitor?
My monitor????
(Pulls out monitor software)
Would this really change anything?
Ok i'll install it.

I actually meant that for snowcatman, since it sounds as if he had a working configuration prior to swapping monitors. It seemed like a reasonable thing to make sure.
haha yea i kinda assimilated the conversation in my head.....
you have to run dxdiag. Go to Start > Run > and then type "dxdiag" without the quotes. Make sure there are no errors and everything is enabled. If there are errors, you may need to reinstall your video card drivers.
Thanks leptoon.
I assume that he has worked it out in the 7 months since the last post was made here, but the advice may help somebody else out.
