Lags in windows
I need some help with the following
I tried the game in windows XP. It is stammering, when you fly it sets you back tot the place you were a second a go, when this happens repeatedly then finally I don't know anymore where I am and I have to logoff. It seems to happen more frequently close to a space station. It doesn't happen all of the time but eventually it will happen.
I also tried the game in Linux, where it works perfect with zero lag. However the commercial version I think will have to be bought in Windows edition.
Tecnical AMD XP computer with GFX MX440 8X
I know I have one of the newest NVIDIA drivers (5.6.7.2)and I even installed in an attempt to solve the problem DirectX 9
Anyone else has an advice?

The fault is not XP itself, as I use XP and have no trouble at all.
While in the game, try using /ToggleFrameRate (the caps are optional) and also /ping. Try them near and away from the station. Post the results here and we'll see where to go next.

I did some measurements 1) away in space 2) near station
results frame
1) 173 -200 fps 1177poly 2200 vert 225500poly/s
2) 50 -100 fps 23500 poly 25000 vert >1.000.000poly/s
ping
1) docked min 138, max 168, avg 147
2) near station min 2,max 1500, avg 628
I can do the same test in linux? Does that help you?
It seems the game has lost hold of my exact position for e.g. it won't give the message "activate to dock" even when the ship seems to be inside optically.

It looks like your ping goes crazy when you leave the station.
I did the same test in linux with a higher resolution, the results were here
1) near the station 105-150fps
2) out in space >240 fps
Ping more constant with min 133 max 154 avg 147 in station
outside min 140 max 231 and avh 148
This seems strange to me. Anyone an idea?

I've got the same problem on win2k, my ping just goes crazy. Sometimes it's over 600 on average.
Try these tweaks:

It may or may not fix it.
Good Luck.

Try switching to OpenGL mode?
Maybe the internet route is just flakey?
