Modern Integrated Graphics OK for High Quality Graphics?
Greetings fellow Space Pilots,
I'm planning to build a new PC and one of my goals is to play VO with the graphics settings set on high. My CPU choice will probably be an Intel Ivy Bridge chip with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Integrated Graphics).
Does anyone have experience playing VO using this for video output, and if so, are you able to run the VO graphics on high quality?
If integrated graphics is not enough, what kind of video card would you recommend that is not too noisy?
I've had to play VO far too long with low quality graphics, time to upgrade!
Thanks for your help,
Spaceman Spiff aka Rock Blaster

I have that chip set with a I-7 quad core and it works get in High mode
Yeah that should work ok. Intel integrated graphics aren't nearly as horrible as they were in the GMA950 days.
Thanks guys !
Just remember that this game was developed when 33.6k dial-up was considered normal, and your screen was large if it measured more than 15 inches diagnol, or displayed more than 1024x800 pixiles. Yes, they have been upping the texture quality, yet this game runs fine on an older ADM 965 processor, with graphics included on the motherboard. It should do just fine on modern hardware.
In 2003 there were laptops with screen resolutions of 2048x1536. Try finding that NOW outside of Apple.
