WTF?

Aug 17, 2012 S7evyn link
Okay so today I fired up the client for the first time in about a month... worked before just fine. I let the updater do its thing in the background while I was typing in another window. Suddenly, the updater steals the foreground while I'm typing, and closes, but the game doesn't open. I check, and vendetta.exe has deleted itself, and the game is somehow no longer installed on my system, despite leaving most of the files and settings behind.

so I re-download the game installer from the site, and run it... it installs. I launch the updater, which re-patches the game, and when it finishes I click launch... and I get a black screen. The game just hangs there on the black screen, no loading screen, nothing. vendetta.rlb is only using like 40MB of memory and 0% CPU. I tried changing the Vendetta Online folder permissions to Full Control for Everyone, and setting it to run as an administrator, still nothing.

Any ideas?

Well, after much head scratching I gave up, was overdue to reinstall my system anyway, so I just reinstalled Windows, and now it works fine again.

Yar!

Using a Radeon 6970 and just had the same issue. Turns out changing the aa_type to 0 in the config.ini file in the game's installation folder fixed it for me.

I had set the mode for the anti-aliasing setting in the Catalyst Control Center to "override application settings" before. After playing with the antialiasing settings in the CCC the game now works, even if I undo all the changes there and in the config.ini file, restoring the previous "non-working" state.
